  10. Re: Mandolin Tasting: Gibsons, Buckeye, Duff, Northfiled

Listened to the sound file. This is a great sampling of mandolins. Very diverse group of builders. It really demonstrates how much influence the mandolin player has on the overall tone. All though...
  11. Re: Mandolin Tasting: Gibsons, Buckeye, Duff, Northfiled

I listened with a decent pair of headphones. I do like the fact that they all were played by the same player with the same strings and pick. sure some mandolins may prefer a certain string or pick....

    Re: Nut Width Preference?

    Hi,

I’ve got small hands and think a narrow nut width should suit me best, but in truth I think you get used to any width if you play it enough. I’ve got several mandolins that range from 27mm...

    New Mando... Hamlett Two-Point

    Hi Everyone,

    It's far too soon...

    Re: GDGD tuning

Tuning both G's up a full step, and both D's up a full step would add a lot more tension to the mandolin that already has a lot of tension, especially if you are using 11-40 strings. I wouldn't do it...
