    Re: Sanding sharp bridge edge

You can do it with a nailfile :)

    Re: Desk clamp hanger?

here's another idea. It could hang on a drawer handle, coatrack etc.

I hang it on the bolt for the safety belt in my car.

    Re: Desk clamp hanger?

d'addario guitar dock is simple and unobtrusive and very functional and clicks away when not used.

    Re: Desk clamp hanger?

You could use the d'addario guitar dock, although it's for standing. I have one at my computer table with a peice of rug under it.

I heated the "arms" and bent them to hold a mandolin neck.

  9. Re: Can I get-rid of the end-pin on Godin A8?

Most endplates are just secured by 3 screws but to be extra sure, you can take the endpin out and if it secures the plate, then just put in a normal screw, or shorten the existing and put it back in...

Do you do Irish fiddle tunes for mandolin? I would love to have Donkey reel with Dubliners.

    Re: New(old) Mandolin banjo

The action does change with the head tension and the shape of the wooden ring. There is no stick inside, but two adjustable screws in the aluminium ring, to keep the wooden ring from deforming when...

    Re: New(old) Mandolin banjo

I bought it to emulate the banjo sounds in irsh music so that sound in itself is there but I think the tones are very dull as if they are dampened. Maybe by the skin/head. Well I'll see. It's a day...

    New(old) Mandolin banjo

Here is my new/old Mandolin banjo.

I just loosened the tuners, adjusted the ring shape to get the action down(it's still too high at 3.5 mm) and freshened the chrome and the shellac, removed rust...

  17. Re: Banjolin skin/head maintenance and button on resonator wanted

No it was much wider, as can be seen from the unfaded wood but I could make a button and screw it on the old stub and close the screwhole with a MOP dot but I have too many projects so would like to...
  18. Re: Banjolin skin/head maintenance and button on resonator wanted

It's not that easy as it has a conical piece like a violin endpiece, that goes into the resonator

  19. Re: Banjolin skin/head maintenance and button on resonator wanted

That photo IS the button :-) Or the rest of it. The darker wood shows where it used to be.

No name, it's probably 100 years old.
  20. Banjolin skin/head maintenance and button on resonator wanted

    Hello all
I just aquired an old Banjolin and wondered if I can do anything to the head/skin, to make it last longer.
It's natural and has no faults.

I also need the decorative button in the...

Re: Taropatch coming my way :-)

I'll just use standard tuning, I have enough difficulties learning to play ukulele, mandolin, 5 string banjo and a mandolin tuned like a Balalayka :mandosmiley:

I bought that Aquila set as well...

Re: Taropatch coming my way :-)

That's exactly what I did and it worked reasonably but I still found it hard to press down 3 strings of different gauge to make a clean sound, so I put it for sale at a good price and it sold. But I...

    Taropatch coming my way :-)

After reading a post here about a Taropatch which I didn't know anything about and having sold my Tipple, because it was hopeless to intonate, I now have a Taropatch coming my way from Frane....
