Re: Old Duff engraving probably Machine ?

In the early years I knew a guy who hand engraved (with a mororised engraver) each tailpiece. They were all basically along a similar design but all had their individual take on that design.

    Re: I have an old

The last two digits of my serial numbers signify the year while the first three relate to the number of the instrument.
So your mandolin is the 46th mandolin I have built and it was completed in...

    Re: 2020 Duff A5

Thank you so much for providing me with the opportunity to chat on Mandolins and Beer Daniel. It was a lot of fun and your questions were thoughtful ones.

    Re: Gerry Barry RIP

This is simply terrible news. I came to know Gerry by way of his love for the mandolin and meeting up at Monroe Camp. Gerry was a quietly spoken, true gentleman and I enjoyed his company immensely....

Re: Rest in peace - Joe Carr

This is incredibly sad news. Joe was a lovely guy who offered so much with his teaching and his musicianship. My thoughts go out to Paula and the rest of his family.
    RIP Joe, you'll be sorely...

    Re: Mike Compton in Australia

    Hi Mike
No, that's not a loaner, it's a brand new beast to match his 'dola. He's been trying a lot of alternate tunings as well which has been very interesting to hear.

Re: Who makes decent mandocellos today?

    Hi Bernie

I do build mandocellos, whenever I get the chance. Even though mandolins are my bread and butter, I love the opportunity to get involved in both mandolas and mandocellos. Orders for the...

    Re: New Duff Mandolins Website

    Hi Olaf
The 'revamping' I mentioned is mainly to do with reorganising space in my workshop and using that space more effectively. I'm trying to creat more defined 'work stations' I suppose. This way...
