I have a deficit of both.
I assume he means "you can play louder without buzzing".
I'm using a set of tip cleaners for cleaning welders in my ongoing project to swap out all the nuts on my guitars (3 down, 2 to go). They're round and come in a range of sizes, so work quite well for...
And a Guitar Center center employee would just stare at you in bewilderment, wondering what a "setup" was. Or why you're bothering them when you aren't buying anything.
I wouldn't go out of my way...
Did they find that thing 5 feet under the foundation of their house? It's either that, or they dug it out of a fire.
I live this part: "TO A GOOD LUTHIER, THIS IS RESTORABLE." I'd beg to differ....
Musician's friend does not setup their instruments, AFAIK. So you will have to budget in $50-$100 for a setup by somebody experienced with Mandolins (and it can be tough to find somebody that knows...
I just got a LM-600 from them that plays great for a truly awesome price (a few scuffs here and there, but nothing too bad). And the instrument was well setup coming out of the box, which was a...
Actually, I just picked up a LM-600 off ebay last week. It is an great mandolin.
I'd say no. It's laminated as opposed to solid wood, and was a pretty entry-level on Kentucky's lineup (right around $500 or so it seems). You almost certainly can find more for your money elsewhere.
Clayton makes both bone and horn picks (I have a pack of the bone, and like them alot and plan on ordered the horn), Amazon has them relatively cheap ($4 for a set of 3). They also have brass,...
I actually had the opposite experience. I was selling something about a month ago (a tieclip that is a fully functioning slide rule), and decided to put a high buy it now price, because why not....
I keep meaning to try those. I love their Tortex picks, and they are all around my favorite guitar pick. I'm not just not totally in love with them on the mandolin. One of my other favorite pick is...
Damn, I just got hosed. I just sold my for $75. :(
Not necessarily a sign of quality, but it's definitely a sign that it's designed to be a professional instrument (or at least a very serious instrument). Anybody buy those instruments are going to...
I forgot to mention that. The onboard speakers on keyboard universally suck. Definitely get a good keyboard amp, or a good pair of speakers or headphones.
I'm quite happy with my Casio Privia Px-XX0 series (which start around $500-600 new, more for added electrical whistles). Tri-sensor, hammer action with a very realistic action (I swear it plays...
Well my new baby came, and I'm incredibly pleased. It's in great shape (a couple minor scuffs, but who wants to play a museum piece?), and at first glance the set-up seems spot on. I'll give it a...

They're just under my renter's policy at the moment, although I should look my policy over again. I think I'm getting close to the coverage limit.
My renters policy is actually pretty good, I...
Well I just won a Loar Lm-600 on Ebay (got it for $335 total, which feels like stealing). Now to nervously wait around for it to show up. That and tracking down a mandolin shop to do the setup (given...
I always like trying new picks.
I've been playing mandolin for a couple years, and am ready to upgrade from my Fender. I'm looking at spending around $400-600. I could go up a bit from, if necessary, though the less money I spend...
