Sorry that you, and we, have lost a friend and comrade.
I've wondered that if (when) I was to die, no-one would inform the forum.
I would just fade away...
Very cool.
Every time I pick it up.
I saw the Punch Brothers live in Paducah, and they tuned for EVERY SONG.
Dawg is to mandolin what Elvis is to cool.
Carry on.
He has a cool channel, been there many times.
I hate a thief.
It's like they are stealing my work, my art, my loves.
But it's always been this way.
Back in the day, Bill and Norman and (add your choice) just played what they had and what was available at the time.
Nowadays everybody overthinks and analyzes every little thing.
I like Wegens...
Okay...
So, which is it?
Do they build strings, or just re-package strings?
Fantastic article, Mike.
Thanks.
This.
I prefer the Peterson, used them all my life, they look like a tuner to me. The Unitune looks like a Christmas tree ornament.
I use the Bose S1-Pro and also an L1-Compact.
One, or the other, and if needed, both.
My tube amps are for the Les Paul and Tele.
I've worn the tip (rounded) on a few Blue Chip TD40's and prefer them with just a bit of wear. It takes many months.
When I get them just right, which I now call "broken in" I order another one.
...
What is it?
What about the uke bass with the rubber strings?
I prefer them to an electric full size bass in an acoustic setting, even if they need a little amplification.
I don't know why?
I've gotten to where I like the Bluechips.
And the Prmetones...
A very cool instrument, me thinks.
I swap out 3 identical Blue Chip TD 40's on guitar (my main instrument) because they will wear, and this keeps them all about the same.
My mandolin pick is the Wegen 1.0 mandolin white.
It...
I've been using SM57's for years.
If it's not loud enough, everybody else is simply too loud.
I never thought about black until I just read your reply.
It has an ebony bridge and fretboard.
By golly, I'm gonna do it!
Thanks, everyone. This is still the best forum on the planet.
In the link for "Tuning Machine Maintenance" mine are the ones he says "never work well".
Looks just like them.
I bought it from George Gruhn, who actually owned this mandolin twice. He also had some stories about Scotty Stoneman owning and playing it. I'm going to tear into it and do some cleaning and lubing...
Had a gig the other night, and my stiff d tuner would barely get to pitch. I'm afraid of breaking the plastic.
Man, the Stew Mac sight is a tad confusing. Does anybody know which tuners would drop...
Too pretty.
And too pointy...
