Sherry, glad you put the offer in, I was going to try it out myself. Not that I need another mandolin, wanted to try an oval with the longer neck than my Gibson. You may tempt me if it is not to your...
I can think of at least 10 instruments that I would like to sell, just never seem to get around to it.
The only advantage to bar frets was compression fretting. Martin had frets a few thousands wider and it would straighten the neck when using a thicker fret. I refretted my '28 2-17 with the next size...
I have pried off pickups glued with CA, saving the pickup. Tho this was on bare wood, but it is still a possibility on a finished surface, especially if that surface has been damaged by the CA. I...
Move your thumb up toward the fingerboard and let the mandolin neck rest in the crook of your thumb, you are using more of a guitar approach. I have both C shape and V shape and either is comfortable...
What is the best brand of mandolin to buy?
+1 I do this also, it is more comfortable out of the way.
It might be easier for you to simply memorize something short that you like that will let you play on all the strings. Or make something up. It will be easier than carrying music and stands to the...
That is a common problem with amps too. Send jacks that are switched that aren't used. I always recommend plugging/out a jack at least a dozen times periodically.
I have one and love it, but it doesn't have rebverb, which the OP wants.
You might try cleaning the jack and anything that is a plug. Oxidation will stop the small signal from going thru and seeing it was wet and you are in Florida I would clean all contact places. Don't...
Sherry, you might like a Martin mandolin. The neck is small and the scale length is shorter, so stretches are easier. They make them up into the 70's if I remember and after some time in the 30's...
I used a violin micro tuner for my banjo and put it on the dowel stick. Works great and is out of sight. Open back banjo of course.
I should have posted this for the first concerts, but didn't think of it.
Bluff Country Gathering is a great little festival in southern Minnesota in May. It has not happened since the craziness...
Way to go Sue. Wish I had one to do and show you the technique I was talking about. Looks good and should last a long time.
I have that same stand, but in the guitar version. It still works well with the mando and even tho I only use it if I am at someplace like an opera house, I like the larger foot print for stability....
If you are going to wrap paracord go under each wrap and pull tight. It will lock each wrap and make a very nice spiral around the handle when you are done.
Not sure what's going on here, but the other day I got a call from a friend and when I answered she started crying and said "you're alive". Seems the word had been circulating among a few friends...
I usually bend one or both to make it fit well yet come off easily. Take your time and bend only slightly until it is where you want it.
Yes you would remove the D ring by bending it, it can be squeezed back shut easy enough. Somewhere on here someone was selling new handles that were made to recreate these old handles. The para cord...
A few years ago a customer brought in a guitar with a broken truss rod, I took the fingerboard off and removed the truss rod. I wanted a duplicate for ease of reassembly, but couldn't find one. I...
They found a very old Conch shell that they have just figured out was a musical instrument for rituals. I heard that today so I am hoping that is what the link was.
I would use tape and put it on the top to see where it sounds best first. Gluing it in is more permanent and won't let you down if you gig. I glued tape the the transducer, glued tape to the tape,...
My mandolins are quite loud and can always be heard in a jam, no matter how many are playing. I have extremely low action. I don't think high action is necessary for volume at all.
