    Personally I could not live with it like it is so I would of had to attempt a replacement side.
    I did think about it, perhaps I could find a vintage mahogany six string and and somehow use the wood...

    The last one I saw on EBay was a a very good one and went for £1300 but I have not seen one for sale in the last few years.

    Ah we have been suggesting GDAE, if you want CGDA 9p 13p 18w 28w for 23” scale 10p 14p 20w 30w for 21” scale.

    I prefer slightly lighter string on my 23” scale banjo, unlike tenor guitars that can be sensitive to string tension, I find you have more leeway way with banjos.
