Just out of curiosity, what did the music store want for the Batwing?
Hey Brad,
i saw them here in Richmond Va. last weekend. Very Fun, wonderful show!
Dawg plays some wonderful, tasty, kick offs, breaks, and fills, and Del gets a few nice breaks too!
They are just...
One of my favorites. Hope to get there by Friday...
Great dancing, old-time, and always some old country. And some swing and jug band, if you know where to look!

Thanks for sharing this.
First got to see Peter play when he toured with Robin and Linda Williams, long ago.
Great memories! Fantastic musician, and always had a joke ready to tell, - and sounds...
I used them on two of my mandolins, and really liked them. I agree, they do seem to last quite awhile.
And I love that you can special order the string gauges you want!
Jeff
I think all of Niles books are great!!
I used them when they first came out, (and I was just learning...seems so long ago!)
After Bluegrass/Up the neck, The Pentatonic Mandolin was a great help to...
Wonderful thread!
Thanks to everyone!
I taught Art to elementary kids for over 30 years. Former students still tell me the lessons they remember and enjoyed the most
were when I used my mandolin...
Thanks Mike!
I'm not sure what brand these tuners are on my Jade.
ALL PARTS just lists GOTOH A tuners (at least thats all I see today) I'm looking for Nickel F tuners.
The Grovers (on ALL PARTS)...
I want to make sure I understand you, "turning correctly" on these worm over tuners means when the button is turned counterclockwise, it tightens the string. Clockwise, it loosens the string.. Right?...
Like most folks here have said, you play what you can afford, based on what and where you are in your life.
I've played for over 40 years. Always had my day job as a teacher. I guess my level is...
Hi Oliver,
I've had an 815 for a number of years, has the brown "violin finish" I bought it new.
I thought it was a bit "thin" sounding, but I feel that it opened up and improved quite a lot, the...
Hey Carl,
So, how you liking it?
Are you bringing it out to any Jams here in Richmond?
Would love to hear it!
Let me know!
Thanks!
Jeff
Yep, still says that at 11:42 EST.
Guess they meant April 7th???
Jeff
Still waiting to hear from any more "new owners", their thoughts on these octaves!
Anyone A/B the tenor bodies compared to terz bodies, etc., .
Any video clips from any owners?
Hoping to hear/see...
Thanks for "chiming in" Kilin! In the few emails we have exchanged in the past year you have been quite helpful! Much appreciated!
I haven't decided whether I want the Terz size or tenor size, so...
Wow! Very Nice!
Being a fan of the old show (and being an "old" fan) I still really did enjoy last night's show! I have always enjoyed Chris's excitement and energy! I do miss some of the old skit's, and GK's...
I still have my Jade F5. It is signed as a prototype, with a Varnish finish. I have replaced the bridge, but otherwise it's all original.
I bought it to be my 2nd" mando, and it has opened up...
I have always liked the way Tim O'Brien uses his Octave, or mandocello, (not sure which it is, or what tunings he uses). I'm no Tim O'Brien, but I do like the sound of the guitar body, and would like...
They are "Cool" looking! I was able to pick one up (acoustic) a few years ago for under $100. Great shape, playable, but we all know how they sound. I'm just hanging on to it, might put a pickup on...
Fretwell Music in Staunton, Va. carries a variety of instruments, & they are known for their basses..I have picked some very nice guitars and mando's there too. Check out their website.
I grew up on Hank & Ernest, still have many of their songs on the band's playlist. I hope they do a good job on this movie too.
I think he looks and sounds pretty good. Hope it's well written and...
I also use different strings for different mandolins. For years I used GHS PF270's on my Henderson. The Brighter "tone" seemed to work well on the Henderson. I used the GHS A270's on my A Gibson. On...
I actually exchanged a couple of emails with him about a year after I got my Jade.We talked about the sunburst on my particular mandolin and he asked if he could use me for a reference to anyone who...
Thank you Flatirock Hill for giving me the forum location. Very much appreciated!
Thank you Randy Linam, for your experiences with various strings, And, yes i am very, very much aware of the...
