Wow. The wife and I were watching a YT vid about jazz bassists today and he was in it several places. Loved his work with WR.

Two of mine have a boot lace running under the strings behind the nut. The Silverangel A style doesn't have enough clearance so I had to run the boot lace around the end of the finger board. It's so...
I knew we shoulda put a tip jar out ... we just ran through Angeline The Baker and Red Haired Boy on the deck and had a small crowd of old folks walking their weenie dogs. :crying:
We're spending a week at a military recreation area at one of the NC beaches. My wife brought her acoustic fretless and I brought my octave. I told her we should put a tip jar out and play on the...
I'm loving my first octave when playing solo or with just an upright accompaniment. Since it doesn't cut like a regular mando, is it correct to assume it would be used more akin to a guitar in a BG...
Yeah ... tuners gotta go. I've finally been able to spend some quality time with it. They're not horrible like every Asian made Breedlove I've ever played. But they're getting on my nerves. What...
Sounds like the G string on every stock Les Paul I've ever owned. :))

Run!
Look up the maker.
I've lived a rather exciting life. Despite the Army, then college, a career (three actually), and raising a family (twice). When I'm 'off duty' I have always been a little sideways. :))
Wouldn't...
Interesting about the volume. Tonight I played it for the first time along with my BG backing tracks and my wife (learning) on her upright bass. And she said I was overpowering the backing track...
I thought it was just me. :))
I've even tried double-sided tape. I'm currently looking for a stipled pick. It works on Glocks. Maybe picks, too?
K&K duo thru an FDeck -2 pre into a Boss Katana Mk2 100. The new octave will get the same. The Boss allows me to set individual channels for each instrument.
I'm a big fan of K&K pups. Have one...
I'd been waiting on an MDO605 but it appears there are none in the US. So I went ahead with the 305. Got a great price on it, and needed one for recording soon. Wanted an F hole Octolindo but that's...
For anyone searching later ... as I did when I first got into mandos ... I re-bought all my tools and went over the nut, radiussed it to match the board, lowered the slots, and polished the slots...
+1
That's a steal at $950. If I hadn't just bought an octave mando it would be mine. It would look good hanging next to it's amber-colored litter mate.
I'd be glad to stop by and report back. But my three months of mandolin experience probably wouldn't cut it, as far as feedback. :))
I got my Rubners squared away when I fixed the nut. But I still think Grovers are the best I've had on my guitars and mandos. Smooth and accurate. I've replaced four or five sets now on various...
While we're at it ... is it cool to sell a mandolin from the classifieds out from under a member on Reverb while you're finalizing payment methods? If that's accepted ... no harm no foul. Seems kinda...
Appreciate the info.
I thought I'd just bought the MDO305 with a pickup in the classifieds here. But after making an agreement, while asking who to make the PayPal payment to, the seller sends...
We guitarists are cheapskates. :))
Yep ... tuners buttery smooth now. The nut had em all bound up.
I found threads suggesting E string choices to change an acoustic to octave. Was curious if anyone had done so on their electric?
Success.
My eyes are starting to get bad at 59 yo and I need to keep magnifiers around. I would've seen immediately what the issue was. I watched a couple videos and read a website I found here,...
Haven't heard them in real life, but when I went digging around early in my mando research, these three stood out. I even downloaded pictures to my phone to drool over.
Jacobson Nautilus A models...
