Re: post a video of yourself

I've been working on Spencer Strickland's version of What Child is This. Didn't get it ready in time for Christmas, but finally got a passable take today.

Re: Second chord in Old Home Place

It's funny how I've heard this song probably hundreds of times, and somehow I always heard that line as "the tariffs took all my pay"...

Glad you cleared that up for me! Makes a lot more sense now

Re: Sam Bush plays Clarence White’s mandolin

I didn't know that Clarence had a mandolin, so it was cool getting to hear it. I guess that is the same mandolin that is on the cover of Roland White's Christmas book. I wonder if there are any...

Here's Mill Valley Waltz off of the Tone Poems album. My mom and I have been working on this one and trying to figure out how to record together when we are in different states

Maybe some Brazilian Choro? It seems like there is a decent amount of instruction out there for it on the mandolin, so you wouldn't have to start from scratch.

Thanks, and nice title page! That's a big hat to fill...

I haven't even had a chance to listen to the music from the transcriptions you put out yesterday

I've been working on Grey Owl recently, and finally got something recorded. I learned the melody from David Benedict's youtube channel, and tried to transcribe the solo from Joe Walsh's video with...

    Re: Roland White death

Is this the article you were mentioning? It looks like a good one, and has lots of clips of his playing in it. I'll have to check it out.

Re: post a video of yourself

Thanks John! It's actually a Bill Monroe tune. There's a video on youtube where he talks about writing it, and it sounds like he had some family from Scotland. I feel like the open drones, especially...

Not a video, but hopefully that isn't a problem! I've been working on the tune Scotland recently, and tried recording some twin mandolins on it.

Mike, you are correct about the neck joint failing in the past. I went back to the original add from when I bought the instrument and saw that it was described as having "a screw in the neckjoint...

    Re: Issues with converted mandocello

Thanks everyone! These are some good ideas, and I'm not exactly sure which one I will go with yet. Since the instrument isn't very valuable, I think it would be kind of fun to try and work on it...
