i worship ideas, not technique.
two word, doods.
black sabbath.
may we all release discs as solid as their first four lp's.
i always feel like crescent is a much more somber disc than the usual output from the great quartet. i don't feel the joy and abandon from coltrane on this as much as i do on his other work. great...
it's interesting to me that no one has mentioned "a love supreme" yet. it's my fave. is it too "outside" for yinz?
Ascension will make you love the Beach Boys.[/QUOTE]
doubt that.
i first heard "ascension" when i was in the 8th grade. i haven't looked back since.
btw. RIP alice coltrane.
best band ever.
regarding steve & his pottymouth, i saw the merlefest show. after standing around in the rain for about 5 hours (we had to endure hootie & the blowfish earlier in the rainstorm), steve walks out...

hey grant,
i think you stopped to think & forgot to start again.
my 02c---- comments like "punk junk" & "rap ####" show a closed mind. the kind of musicians i respect have an open mind & respect...
when i play guitar, i usually only play alt tunings, inspired by son house, robt johnson, keith richards & sonic youth. guitar standard guitar tuning was created by someone who wanted to punish...
i saw zep in cleveland in 77. i had no memory of JPJ playing mando. i told him that at the symposium & he laughed. he signed my mando case anyways, tho.
hey sternART, i had breakfast at your table...

"I think it's a generational thing, in general. Usually it's the old curmudgeons that dis on NC."
---------
bad generalization. i'm 47 & i think they rule. i tend to think it's those w/closed minds...
Should this even be in the rock section?
(Sorry, ducking now...)
--------------------
in my opinion, yes.
conceptually, i think of NC as an indie rock band with small instruments.
