Ebay is the way to go. I got mine there.... as mentioned, never had an ebay order canceled.
Yes, mando forum I guess. Plus, 5ths are pretty intuitive and are used by different instruments.
For me, its GDAE too-- but more based on my limitations. I'm a guitar player who can get around on a mando. I'm not real good on theory or transposing, so going to CGDA just messes with my mind. I...
I hope you like yours as much as I like mine. And the color makes it even better.
Just to report in... I'm loving this thing. I tuned it like an octave mando. I'm not a really good player (really a guitar player, and mediocre at that), but this seems to match my inadequacies...
I guess that guy who was selling his used tenor tele on Reverb for $800 is out of luck.

This is a thread started at the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum in 2007. It is still going. Martin players like their Teles.

Lake Placid Blue. They had Butterscotch, but I've always been a sucker for the custom colors.
Had an interesting conversation with the store. He said that the alternative reality Fenders sit on...
This ebay dealer has been selling them over the last two days-- three to my count. I bought one! There is still one for sale I think

Awesome post. I'm tuned octave mando on my tenor because I can't transpose in my head.... Octave mando is nice but sits pretty close to guitar. Would love to over come and move to C like you did....
Picked it up last week.... price was way low. You right about playing/sounding great. The bare wood... yes, but you don't see it when you are playing it!
Thanks Guys!
Hello!
I have an old Regal tenor guitar (koa b/s) that is about the size of a Martin Size 5 guitar. I'd like to convert it to octave mando. What string gauges should I use?
Thanks!
Bob
These look great!
Do they have enough volume to be heard with other instruments? I know its not as loud as an archtop, but is it close?

Here's a thread that might help.

I did find a couple of Bajo Sextos... Some can be had kind of cheaply. Most are made in Mexico of laminate b/s with a solid top. Many of the ones that I saw needed neck sets badly. The pawn shops...
If you are interested, I put my Mid-Mo on Ebay last week, with opening bid of $450 and BIN of $650 (I had listed it in the buy and sell for $595). #No bids yet, so it might be a pretty good octave...
I haven't seen to many posts on this style of music... I just got back from six weeks San Antonio where I was playing at daily Church services at a Spanish Language school... I can't say that mi...
House of Musical Traditions in Tacoma Park MD (right on the DC line) is pretty good. There are some great Bluegrass type stores within an hours drive in MD and VA.

I'd second the New Gibson A9 or used Rigel A+ Deluxe. I've owned both, and ended up keeping the Rigel over the Gibson, but both are fine instruments. I find the Rigel to be easier to play and have a...
I have one... just got it in a trade. It is the one with the maple back and sides, as opposed to the rosewood version. I've never played another one, so I don't know what to compare it to....

I concur on Stradolins! I had one for a while and loved it... a 50's model, looked cheesy, sounded great.
For me, they are like old Danelectros-- great sounding guitars, wonderful to learn on, and...
I just came into a Rigel A+ Deluxe... #In a word, awesome. #I was really undecided between getting an F hole A model or an oval sound hole model... #I was looking at all the usual suspects, and was...
