Gotta have Reischman, Flinner, and Marshall...
I came to mandolin and a roundabout appreciation of bluegrass through Garcia and the Grateful Dead. I really like those songs featuring Dawg on mandolin. I'm still not a huge (strictly speaking)...
Wow. That's pretty stunning. I'd love to hear it!
Anybody used this model?

I'm in need of a new tuner, I like the clip-on idea, and I don't mind pank at all... :))
I ran...
That's it. I'm ordering.
:))
Hey Ken - beautiful work. Your mandos always have such a unique vibe..
J Bovier mandos come with them installed. I liked them but ended up switching to J74s for no real reason. They sounded good and I thought they held up pretty well. Of course, they were the first...
No problem. I'd like to say it was out of nothing but the goodness of my heart. But in truth, I'm watchin' this thread for the TAB too... ;)

In fact, there's lots of cool covers there!
Stop it. Just stop.
Martin will be in my town Saturday night and I have to be at my work's major fundraiser for the year. Bummer... :crying:
Yep - my experience with the CS Tx Specials, and Fat50s has been the same - very high G and D poles. I never use anything less than fatty strings, so it was never an issue.
OK - I'll bite.
Please change mine to Jason Kindall.
Have you completely removed the bridge saddle on the G string? Try removing the saddle - I've seen bits of string or string wrapping get lodged under a saddle and cause buzzing before. Just a...
Yes! Hahahaha...
In the jamgrass/newgrass arena I really dig Greensky Bluegrass these days. Their mando picker, Paul Hoffman, really makes that Newson sing.
Yep - call Jeff directly. He'll give you the straight info. Great guy to deal with.
Well, consider that Stevie Ray Vaughan looked like he was trying to pass a peach pit sideways. Makes Thile look downright placid.
There's been some pretty sweet used mandos on the classifieds that retailed more than your budget new, and are well below it used. That distressed Yellowstone and a Newson (search - about 30 days...
Depends. Do you have the tongue-curl gene?
I direct programming at a nonprofit environmental education center, so once in awhile I step in and work as a teacher-naturalist. That means hiking, showing kids cool places on the trail, and some...
I got no input. I'm must very excited.
Go for it and enjoy it.
I remember when I graduated from college. I went from having a hard butt and a fat wallet to quite the opposite. :)) :crying: That's when I bought my nicest guitar...
Ken Ratcliff had a used Silverangel F on the classified recently for under $3K. Might be worth calling him and seeing if he still has it. I was jonesing for it pretty bad but I'm broke.
Good luck, Dan. I can't tell you how extremely cool it is for you to be doing your capstone musical performance to date on one of your own creations. :mandosmiley:
Rock their socks off!
Ellis was definately one of those jazzers that anyone could listen to regardless of taste in musical genres.
RIP, Herb..
