Change the string first. It's the cheapest thing on the instrument.
I thought I sold all the books, but discovered another one. Who wants it?
The bridge that's on it now is from an adjustable bridge for an archtop mandolin. Thus the holes in the ends.
Someone would have removed the foot of the bridge because the complete unit would have...
It's HOWARD - no S.
Exactly. Bob Benedetto built a nice archtop from "pallet wood" that sounded almost as nice as his normal guitars made from high dollar tonewoods.
Still cheaper than a Gibson or other American made brands.
This is true even of machine made stuff like Gibson.
However, I've been doing repair work for a living for 45 years - and I know...
Lots of hand craftsmanship, very little machinery noise.
I own an AR-804 (oval hole archtop) and an AR-810. Both are excellent guitars. I've had guys who own Gibson L-5's ask if I would sell them....
There is no way that hole can cause strings to break because the strings never touch it.
And I can tell by looking those slots are not cut correctly.
Because they slant, they will pinch the string....
This is common knowledge among repair shops who do a lot of refret work. YES, EVO Gold is disappearing.
Can you guess why? One of the main metals used in EVO Gold is mined in Ukraine.
You don't...
No. I quit watching ANY Star Wars stuff after the 3rd flick decades ago.
^^^ This is the way. ^^^
Bought one off Squeebay... less than $13 and free shipping. It's neat as can be.
Most of the pros (like me) have been using Howard Feed'n'Wax - sparingly. Cleans and conditions dry fingerboards.
...
Does not bode well.
I've used Duco in the green & yellow tube for 45 years to repair degrading binding or to reglue. I've never diluted it.
Roger - thanks for your gigantic contributions to the legacy of luthiery.
I once saw you at a NAMM show in the 80's and thanked you for writing your books.
"Which one?", you asked - quick as a...
Serious thanks to Brad Combs who has listed these 14 PDF files for anyone to download.
No more emails, no more thumb drives, no more CD's - do it yourself!
Issue #1:...
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Never use window cleaner on ANY musical instrument - especially a vintage one. YE GODS!
The strings are literally the cheapest thing on the instrument - a quarter's worth of wire.
Replace the string, then if the problem persists - see a competent and experienced luthier.
Then explain this Tele body a friend finished in TruOil.
You don't get that shine from a hard rubber stage.

Are you thinking of Watco oil finishes, which remain soft?
TruOil does get hard, provided it's applied properly in very thin coats.
Untrue. I've done it, and so have others.
Next time don't use a rag. Use a sponge, and squeeze most of the water out of it first.
TruOil applied with your finger in thin layers.
First of all - what the heck are you playing? How old are the strings?
