  1. Re: Sierra Hull and Ethan Jodziewicz in concert, June 9, 2017

I can't see the video in the original post but if this is the one (https://instagram.com/p/BVJDYPpFGeD/) I quite like it. It's got a good groove. She has a great tone there IMHO.
  2. Re: J.L. Smith (4-stringer) Natural just finished.

You have a good point. Thanks for your reply.

I can trust sound samples only to the extent that they were well recorded in a good flat room using quality microphone>interface, uploaded without...
  3. Re: J.L. Smith (4-stringer) Natural just finished.

    Hello John. Looks great!

I looked for sound samples on emando.com but didn't find any. Do you have a link? Thank you.

    Noob question:
McClung vs. CA armrests. Pros and cons? Or which has advantage and why? Thank you.

    Re: Mandolin Stand

On a gig, I bring a Hercules GS432B tri-stand. Stable, sturdy, protects well, compact when all closed down ready to pack. Fits guitar, bass, mando, ukulele, and similar instruments.

    Re: New favorite (cheap) pick.

    Different materials:

Delrin or Tortex = polyacetal (acetal homopolymer)
    Clayton Acetal = acetal copolymer
    Ultem = polyetherimide
Red Bear = polymerized animal protein

Re: Mandolin Set-up E-Book by Rob Meldrum

Thank you, Rob for the videos and the ebook. Great resource!

I have set up many flat top and archtop guitars over the years so I am familiar with the basics addressed in this book, but I really...

Al, thank you. This is exactly the type of comment I am looking for.

    Another thread comparing 3 mandos

    Hello,

I am new to mandolin. I've been a guitar player for many years and after two unsuccessful stints hoping to learn tenor guitar (I find the fifths tuning too hard on a 23" scale), I decided...

Not to hijack the thread, but has anybody tried Cumberland's ebony archtop guitar bridges? As recommended as the mandolin bridges? Thanks!

UPDATE: I have chosen the MD805/v. The MD404 I had my hands on is a very nice mandolin too, but I am determined to have only one so the 805 won. Thanks to all for your help, thoughts and comments.

Re: New to mando: Eastman MD404 or MD805V?

I can't remember if there was another x04. Many mandolins went back and forth in my hand over the course of 90 to 120 minutes. I didn't pay attention to model designation until I was down to two...
