    Re: Monel strings

I just tried my first set of Monels, D’Addario EJM75C. I wanted to size up a step on my Eastman MD605 from the EJ74’s I’ve been using. Wow! I love the sound of these strings. I jammed with some...

Re: Playability of a new Eastman 305 question

Check out Rod Meldrum’s e-book and measure the string height.
My setup from TMS was super playable right out of the box.

    Re: Help with EQ/Frequency Issue

Good luck, if you figure that out let me know. I was excited when my new mixer included a real time analyzer so I could try to reduce that… and found that it was across a good portion of the...

Re: SIMPLE Editing Software for PC

Sherry, I use a free program called HD Video Converter, by WonderFox Software. It has some annoyances with frequent paid upgrade offers, but it does the job admirably of clipping/trimming, cropping,...

    Re: Digital Mixer Advice!

I recently got a Behringer XR18 and am really liking it. I wouldn’t call it super intuitive however. It took a while to figure out how to do things like low cut filters, compressors, etc. But the...

Re: I went and did it!

Ha! Sheila, for once I beat you in the acquisition race. I got two guitars last winter :)
So far I just keep them around for guests to pick on and sometimes bring one to the brewery for friends to...

Re: Do You Baby Your Mandolin?

My Eastman sits either on a stand or in the case depending whether I’ve played it last away or at the house…it gets played every day, carried in the truck to the brewery frequently, and lovingly...

Re: Looking at your hands while playing -- opinions?

I’m still pretty new at this so I often have to look especially when picking single strings instead of chords. But when singing with a mic and/or playing with a harp rack it’s not practical to look...

I am blessed to have a beautiful BRW three point. I’d love to read some of the articles.
  15. Re: Whatís the oddest mandolin related gift youíve been given?

Mine, like Allen’s, is harmonica related. A friend gave me a keychain with tiny little harmonica on it. It’s kinda cute and the harmonica is actually functional, sorta.

    My mandolin related gift...

Re: Key of the song based on the melody

JeffD, as a (diatonic) harmonica player I’m inclined to think there’s some merit in your theory. Although it’s only been the last four or five years that I realized how to effectively comp and lead...

Re: New Eastman won't stay in tune - bad pegs?

I’ve noticed that my BRW holds tuning better than my Eastman but I always assume that my mandolin will need tuning every time it’s been put away and picked up. The biggest difference is that fewer...

Re: How Much Difference Do Speakers Make?

I wouldn’t rely on home PC speakers or microphone for any aspect of recording or music playback.
The suggestion to use headphones or Bluetooth to a JBL or other powered speaker is good.
