On his cd, Blue Mesa, he plays a Ukrainian song and a polka. I'd love
to have the music for these tunes. Can anyone help here?

Happy Birthday M.C. and Scott - I've made great use of the Cafe; met a few friends on it; and always look forward to David Benedict's Monday Mandolins
project.
I had a nice A case for my 2AZ mandolin. The cat liked to sleep in it once in awhile.
After awhile I noticed a smell; could never get rid of that smell and bought another case. That earlier case...
Looks interesting. I like combination of instruments too.
When you see them, they look the same to me. How are they different?
Both in tuning and sound?
I've been listening again to "Between Worlds" by Israeli (now living in Berlin) Avi Avital, and his tremolo is really good.
A great question. I always have admired David Grisman's tremolo. I was at a workshop with him on that subject and his comment was something like:
"I've never had to work on my tremolo." Meanwhile I...
It is amazing to think of 3 of the 4 super musicians are still actively performing!
Scott, I am curious what sort of music you played, and with whom you did the concert?
I just learned that Chris Strachwitz died at the age of 91. He started Arhoolie Records and Downhome Music in El Cerrito, CA. He came to the US as a child after WWII from Germany. While learning...
I have a sense it will be an expensive book, but I am very tempted to buy it when it comes out.
I never met Dix Bruce but I knew of his many instruction books and materials. In fact I had a really nice collection of tunes, in various keys, with a cd which I
enjoyed playing along with. Sorry...
I have a wonderful memorial cd by band members who played with John Hartford.
They do the Royal Box Waltz, by John.
Anyone have a chart for it/music notation?

I never met Peter but have a recording of his waltzes and his book of waltzes: "The Neighborhood Waltz."
I have played lots of them and really love "Upper Valley Waltz" and Will Patton's version of...
I am sad to hear about Ginny. I made a lot of use of the Mandolin Magazine over the years. I had issue one except the first one...I told that
to Ginny, and she sent me a copy of the first issue! I...
Tim, thank you for converting it fr. G to D. I'll also work on playing it an octave lower too.
Monday night there was a concert to remember Peter Ostroushko in Minneapolis and "Heart of the...
I am looking for the score for Peter's "Heart of the Heartland" in the key of D.
I found it on tin in G, but I want to play it in D.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Contact their site directly. I think someone will get back to you. Have enjoyed them a lot too.
Like others I met Herschel at the Mandolin Symposium and did a workshop or two with him, in part because I knew he was an important part of bluegrass
music.
I have a nice cd by the late Butch Baldassari and I recall that he had a unsigned Loar.
Any idea of how many there might have been; might be?
How many signed F5s are there.
Thanks,
Nick Royal
I am playing a piece that calls for pizzicato the 3rd time around.
My way is by placing the heal of my right hand on the strings.
Is that the correct way? Or other ways to do it?
Mandolin & mandola make a great duet combo.
Dear Don and everyone else,
Thank you for your comments. I got lost in them, but did work out a C2 chord. It is: (fr. the high E: 3300)
I know this may not be a C2 chord, but it sounded good in...
What does a C2 chord look like on the mandolin?
And the notes?
Thanks,
Nick
Well, she got to Oberlin College way before Chris Thile & the Punch Brothers who have been visiting the Conservatory at Oberlin in the last few years.
