So can Ugo Orlandi (which is probably where Carlo Aonzo learned it from). I've also noticed that even when he is sitting, Ugo Orlandi holds his mandolin up and not resting on his lap.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have Marilynn Mair's Complete Mandolinist method book coming and I also have the Calace 6-part method. I certainly hope to get good habits ingrained from the start.

I stopped playing my mandolin about three years ago when my time and attention were focused more on my career and other sundry projects. But, now I've come back to it. But, so much time has gone by...

Looks more like a G or J to me. Of course, "Gabbricante" or "Jabbricante" makes even less sense.

I also note that clothing with very smooth fabric or additives like stain resitants (which is similar, I think, to teflon) make the problem ten times worse.

I would imagine an adhesive, like double sided tape or a glue, would serve that purpose.

The chamois does greatly improves (read virtually eliminates) the stability issues. I also found that anchoring a finger (e.g., pinky) to the soundboard or resting the palm behind the bridge...

It is much nicer than my $50 Rogue. :)) This is a difficulty because it is such a drastic improvement that it is hard to quantify or qualify.
