Take a look at my profile image. That's the SP-H3. The LP-H3 has more of a sloping shoulder design. I think the sound chambers are roughly equivalent.

OK. I'll try to figure out how to do a soundclip and will try to get something up that does this little beauty justice.
Here are some of the specs:
Sitka Spruce top (wood is over 20 years old)
Big Leaf Maple back (from a very old board)
GoldenAge tuners
Radiused board with the banjo frets
ebony BRW bridge...
This is my 2nd BRW and I think I have a new favorite. First of all, it IS truly a gorgeous instrument: wood choice, workmanship and finish all first rate. Photos do NOT do it justice.
For a brand...
Funny you mention it. I have been a Silver Bullet devotee but have had some recent issues with it. The bullet is still a fine choice but I think the Meridian system is a step up. The good news is the...
I discovered this new amplification system while browsing at the K&K website and decided to try it out. First review:
The mic attachment clamp works well but has to be removed to fit the...
I've heard good things about Gary Cornett too. If it were me, I'd consider supporting the KY folk, especially since Currier and Cornett are getting some kudos here. I haven't needed any serious setup...
Yup, Mick- that's sorta the whole point of my post...
After quite a while of playing my 2 point BRW with a strap attached via a shoe lace wound around the neck and under the fretboard extension, I had a strap button installed this morning (not on the...
I'm starting up a list of instrumental pieces to play at weddings/receptions:
Midnight on the Water
North Shore (Reischman)
A Place in the Heart (Baldassari)
Ashokan Farewell

I was an oboist for many years so using an A 440 tuning fork is very natural for me. I own several different sorts of electronic tuners, including an application on my iPod but when conditions...
The quest for the right pick holding approach is an important one. In addition to whatever you find out in this thread, there are lots of similar ones in the forum here. It can take time to get the...
K&K silver bullet... check into it. It's a tiny mic- works tremendously well for me. It can be installed internally and wired to an end pin jack.
Sweet Geoff- nice job! It helps to see as well as hear it played. Thanks
I have been using a K&K Silver Bullet for a while now and LOVE it. Really good natural sound on a budget. I'm happy enough with it that I am seriously considering installing it. That can be done.
Found the old thread and have two versions from TablEdit. Does anyone know if Reischman recorded his version of Over the Rainbow? If he did, I am not having any luck so far in locating it.
I can personally attest to the build quality and killer tone of Ben Wilcox's mandolins. Somebody MUST acquire this one.
This book DOES look very good. Barnes and Noble seems to have a good price on this but it is a pre-order so may take a while.
I am dipping my feet into the world of swing and jazz. My band is working on this in Am but with very basic chords. I'm hearing a lot of possibilities for chord changes in the verse but am having...
The pdf I posted earlier will give you the melody line, also in the key of G. I'm watching/listening to the Alan Bibey video and working with that pdf to try to figure out a version that works for...
Me too. I found this (attached) to at least get us started.
Scale length is 24. Yes-it's a stretch but not a problem for me.
This idea is a little scary... but if it gets me that flatwound sound I love, I'm game to try. Thanks for the tip.
My new Weber Octar came with J80s on it but I am a HUGE fan of flatwounds. Other than TIs, are there any flatwounds that you all know about? What are your favorite stings for OMs?
Barb
Yup- it does have a 'hog back and sides- RICH sound indeed!
