  1. Re: Would anyone be interested in a Blue Chip pick shootout?

Meant to say "boosted" midrange. Scooped would be the opposite :)
  2. Re: Would anyone be interested in a Blue Chip pick shootout?

I'll take a look! If it's been done and the community has access to it, then saves me time to not duplicate any effort :)

I'll offer my opinion anyway (without recordings). Setup is a Silverangel...
  3. Would anyone be interested in a Blue Chip pick shootout?

    Hey all,

I'm a gearhead. Guilty as charged. I've been playing jazz bass for ~22 years and from an early age I've been obsessed with the quest for tone.

When I started playing the mandolin, my...
  4. Re: Travelite Case - doesn't close without applying pressure. Nor

I did exactly this. It fits better now, but still a little snug. I will keep working at the area, it should eventually mold in to a safe fit.
  5. Re: Travelite Case - doesn't close without applying pressure. Nor

I don't have another F-5 mandolin to test with.

I wonder if I can mold the roof of the case to accept a thicker mandolin. It would be a shame if this didn't work out...the case is very high...

  7. Travelite Case - doesn't close without applying pressure. Normal?

    Hey guys,

I just received a Travelite in the mail.

The case is gorgeous, and fits "around" the mandolin body just great. However, it doesn't seem like it has enough vertical space inside. The...
  8. Re: Martin A Style vs. Eastman 315 for Folk & Bluegrass

Wow the Silverangels look serious...not sure I'm worthy yet!
  9. Re: Martin A Style vs. Eastman 315 for Folk & Bluegrass

Thank you guys! I'll stick with my Martin until (if) I become a serious bluegrass player.

For future reference, would the Eastman models (305, 315) be a good addition, that's comparable in quality...
  10. Martin A Style vs. Eastman 315 for Folk & Bluegrass

    Hey guys,

I've been playing a Martin A Style 1958 for a couple of years. Mostly classical music but I want to get into folk and bluegrass. The tone is wonderful (as far as I can tell), but I've...

Re: What is a good quality bowl back for ~$500?

I called the shop for the greek mandolin, it's been sold already

btw I'm located in NYC. scouring eBay is definitely an option - I'm just wondering if there's anything that's somewhat easy to...

Re: What is a good quality bowl back for ~$500?

is stutzmanguitarcenter a reliable website? meaning, if I buy any of the above instruments without trying them, can I count on them being in good shape? From your sentiment, it seems like the $199...

What is a good quality bowl back for ~$500?

I'm a bass player of ~18 years but was recently introduced to the mandolin on Christmas by an old Neapolitan mandolinista. I fell in love with the instrument and would like to buy one for myself, to...
