Cool thread. I was looking for this kind of information. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Free! Weeeeee! Ahem...sorry, got excited.
I'm soooo winning this! (Isn't gluttony wonderful?)
Newbie Octave player here
Just received my new Mendel (yes, Joe Mendel) this a.m. I'm obviously thrilled with the sound and equally nervous to hold and play this great-sounding OM, as...
Hi Ted,
Thanks for opening that up for discussion
I'd go for it. Could couple that nicely with http://blip.fm and add some audio pizzaz.
Traitor!:disbelief:

Awesome post Phillip ; ) --(Wouldn't that make a great Superbowl ad?)
"Honey, why did you spend $8,000 for a new mandolin?"
Possible excuses...

Very sad news indeed. Butch, rest in peace. For the surviving members of the Baldassari family, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Butch was a unique kind of mandolin virtuoso and it showed...
Cello + mandolin family = cookies and milk
Wow. Excellent submissions. Good on ya!
I'll be honest...just watching Don McRostie's DVD (Stew-Mac) is a daunting task:grin: Build jigs, transfer patterns and choose your tools carefully. Intimidating stuff.

Here's a very rushed job on a Greek Christmas and New Year's Eve Carol medley, with tunes from different parts of Greece. I also have posted a sample Greek Carol from the island of Cephalonia in my...
Lackluster might be a pretty accurate description for the 7th fret + up sound you get from a Breedlove. I was wondering about that myself (I have a Cascade KF). Don't think it's a set up issue, I...

Happy Birthday Butch!
Keep up the good fight. You're with us and we're with you every time we learn from your instructional materials and we play your tunes. Evergreen Christmas rocks! Thank...

Scotti,
When you read this in the library, think about finding what you absolutely wanted to do in high school (occupation-wise ;)), what you were absolutely passionate about. Then, carefully...

what's the deal with their pricing now that they've merged? I have XM in one vehicle, Sirius in the other
Do they still "pocket" from both brotherly ventures? Or do...
It's not everyone's cup of tea and it's not meant to be of course. Several tunes from that project cause a Stravinsky/Rite of Spring effect, in the sense that they're not the usual melodic marriages...
why not download Firefox or Google Chrome in both home and work;) (unless IT dept. is policing the process)
hmmm...can't see my avatar, and I'm getting a "file failed to upload" message...
*never mind...: ) it was only in the "edit avatar" mode...I can see it in "live."
I concur. Sweet in indoor settings, pretty but silent outside.
Thank you all for the continued interest in improving our message board and mandolincafe.com
It will be great to see the Calendar features enabled, if you decide to do so. It'll be so much easier...
Nitpicking but it's "Bluegrass pur(i)st", not purest. Unless you are pure, purer, purest than all the other bluegrass listeners. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Awesome. Can't wait for this issue.
