    Re: Fret sprout question

I just ordered one of these babies. Wish me luck.

A minor mess doesn't bother me. Like Bogie said, "I don't mind a reasonable amount of trouble."

Re: Let's hear your BEST musical joke?

I ran into a friend the other day. He was carrying an enormous pie.

I said, "holy cow, I never saw such a big pie! I wonder how much it weighs?"

He said, "I don't even know where I would find a...

    Fret sprout question

I got a hold of a nice two-point mando made by a local (Boston-area) builder. All is well except it has a rather bad case of fret sprout. I immediately stuck it in a case with an oasis humidifer (the...

    Re: Recommendations For Headphones?

I have the ATH-908's from Audio Technica. I think they go for around $70. Extremely comfortable, and they have a very long cord, which comes in handy. They sound good too.

    Re: Octave Mandolin advice

Before you spend money on an OM, take an old guitar and string up the top four strings, G,D,A,E. Then see how well you do with the stretches.

I was given this advice when I was thinking of getting...

    Re: Patrick Sky RIP

When I was young, I thought "Songs That Made America Famous" was a real hoot. The perspective of the years revealed it to be sophomoric and cringeworthy. I do like his playing with Mississippi John...

  21. Re: Emotional hearing, and changing out my 7-year old strings...

    Try this method:

    1. Settle into a comfy chair.
    2. Put the ball game on TV
    3. Pour a healthy scotch on the rocks.

    Works for me, every time.

Re: Modes of the diatonic scale?

I learned it as "I Don't Particularly Like Modes A Lot." I also use them for a warmup but not much else. Well, I can play the bass part to So What, that's in Dorian.
