    Re: Tremolo...Which player...

Caleb Klauder has the machinegunniest tremolo. Percussive. Loud. In your face. Some might call it mandolin abuse. I like it but it ain't sweet or smooth. And Caleb uses it well.

Re: Double Time vs. Half Time

    "double time" vs "half time"

In formal metrical analysis, each of these terms is an example of what is called a "dok". If they are indeed equal, they are known as "paradoks".

    Hope this helps!

    Re: Look at Fingerboard,or Not?

When I was new to the mandolin, I looked a lot. Gradually, my fingers "learned" where they needed to go for clean fretting at the correct fret. By then it had become a mild habit and it took some...

Re: Did something I never thought I’d do

You and son are in good company, Mark. Even Pavarotti was (allegedly) singing a step or two down late in his career. I have to say "allegedly" because I don't want to get sued....

    Re: Bizarre instrument. ID, please?

Was it a bowlback? Sure looks like a bowlback case. But the body looks like a flattop mandolin to me. Kinda scrunched in to the case. It sorta fits, I guess.

    Re: Audiation

Thanks, Mike. I now have a new envy - of those who are good audiators.

It is an interesting read, verbalizing some of the reasons I avoid calling myself a musician.
