A few years ago I bought a koa ukulele in Hawaii. The owner of the company bought a major koa source - I don't know if it was pre-harvested wood or a live forest - and cranked out a new line of...
This discussion has really been helpful. Since I was open to either option, I went with the first temptation that crossed my path. I'm waiting for it to arrive so can't comment on that decision yet....
Thanks BBarton! I think I've seen his website a while ago. Will check it out.
Great comments from everyone. Thank you!
At this point, I'll keep my radar on both instruments to see what comes available. However, I'm starting to lean towards an octave mandolin. Hadn't...
I'm considering getting a lower-voiced mando mostly to supplement a small local group of mando players. Our songs range from light classical and world folk, to early 19th century tunes. We have 2...
Thanks Barry.
Ultimately, I may yield to making the transition, but I'll keep looking for now. Chromebooks seem to offer more choices in the size range we need, but I just started looking at them.
I should have checked MobileSheet's site first. Thanks. I'll share anything I find of interest.
Hi, I'm looking for Android tablet (> 10") recommendations to display sheet music.
I currently use a 10" Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 which is good for many things (including the pen for making...
OK so it's been a few years since the last post on this thread, but it's exactly what I'm currently researching. Thanks! I brought my 2015 Breedlove American KF to a local luthier to install a K&K...
oops, just noticed I'm repeating myself. Sign of aging, I guess.
Thank you for posting the Nazareth site. I'm newly introduced to Brazilian choros and now have yet another pursuit! So much music, so little time.
This thread has been around along time but I was wondering if the above collection has been reposted somewhere as the link provided no longer works.
I'm looking for arrangements written for a...
Congratulations! Send some Weber-inspired tunes our way...
Mandophile, I so appreciate this group sharing their knowledge of this instrument and genre. It makes the whole experience more enriching. BTW, I couldn't find a recording of "Stella" to guide me...
Thank you so much! Your comments are encouraging. First though, I suspect from your PS comment that my soundcloud profile pic may be, er a bit misleading. That was taken a long, long time ago,...
I haven't been online here for a while but wanted to share a couple of mazurkas I attempted from the drop box. They're rough, but you have to start somewhere, right?
Also, I hadn't fully...
[QUOTE=Mandophile;1649493]The Index just got a good scrubbing. Please download the latest PDF of the Mandolin Trios as attached here.
Sheri,
Thank you soooo much for sharing these works. I hope...
Thanks Mike. The luthier doing the repairs told me the same thing. The tuners themselves seem to be OK - maybe a bit sticky. The bigger problem was the plastic knobs had started to fall apart.
Thank you David. It looks like I hit the jackpot! The volume of material is huge; so to not be overwhelmed, I'll have to figure out where to wade in.
Hi, newbie here.
I just inherited a Gibson A40 that belonged to my uncle. It's been somewhat neglected for many years so it's in the shop getting new tuners and strings. I've been asked to...
