    Mando Jigs Recording

The duo I play in, "Boxing Robin" (a Nolan Ryan reference if you follow baseball at all) has just released a new single recording.

Two mandolins here, a National resonator and a Breedlove FF.

I know many of you, mostly from my decades of playing Irish mandolin and accordion. I've had the pleasure of teaching several workshops (including the...

    Re: Alabama Rick's jig

Well, I love the tune (what fun to play it on mandolin!) but I almost never get to play it in sessions because I can't start it. Well I could, but you know...

Learn to play accordion-- you can shout them down and keep them at your tempo. Done it many times. : )

    Re: Mandolin at sessions

I'll second that, and this is the only reason I own a National- bought it in 2006, s/n 012. I called National about the tuners (they kept the mando in tune but were hard to turn, even with...

Re: Mando tasting including National Resonator

I love mine! The original tuners were the black-buttoned tuners that were very hard to turn. Grovers were a big improvement, but I really do like the National.

Thanks for the kind words, Mark- you're well on your way, yourself!
