    Re: My engraving process

Wow that base is a bit expensive. I would be tempted to get a used 16lb bowing ball and make it a base.

As mentioned I am a fan of tue arbortech items. I’m excited to get the newest power scraper. I’ll take chips over dust anyway!

Re: Truss rod and carbon fiber.

In those upside down t cf necks did you also somehow incorporate a truss rod? I know my oval A from OldWave has no truss rod and has never had an issue shy of 20 years later.
  6. Re: Best power carving tool for arching and graduating tops and b

Like I mentioned above I’m switching to the arbor tech gouges. They still make a mess but the finish is better and the fine dust is much much less. I loel tue kutzall as well but really appreciate...

My generator is too strong to leave running inside for too long but short bursts of a few minutes or in an isolated room for a couple hours seems to work well. I do believe ozone takes about 20...

Re: How to de-skunk a mando?

Anyone ever use ozone? I have used an ozone machine for some times and othe things but never an instrument. I’m not sure if it would be bad forntue finish or glue?
  11. Re: Best power carving tool for arching and graduating tops and b

I was a kutzall fan but the dust they creat will go right to you lungs leaves an abraded surface where the Arbortech producers create chips. And they also make their power carving tool that is a...
  12. Re: Best power carving tool for arching and graduating tops and b

I have the arbor tech ball gouge and mini ball gouge. They aren’t grinders but actual gouges. They remove material quickly and you would be using an angle grinder. I would suggest that if your hands...

Re: Favorite part of instrument building?

I did, it was a break from the insanity of the day where I could focus on one thing and one thing only, almost like a meditation.

Re: Favorite part of instrument building?

I must be odd I like using scrapers and sanding. I even like hand rubbed finishing. Kind of reminds me of spit shining when I was an active duty Marine.
