    Vintage K1 mandocello on GC

Replacement bridge, some top cracks, looks like it was re-necked in the 1930s. Does have what looks like an original Geib case.

    Everyone needs a mandola.
  7. Re: What tuners are these? Rigel A+ Deluxe (early 2000's)

    Correct, Rigel used Grover tuners.

    Re: Luither in Seattle Area

I'm taking a lot of work to Paul Stroh these days. Reasonable rates and turnaround times.

The guitar I would take to Paul or to Dagmar Silesia. The violin I would take to Duane Lasley.

  10. Re: Kent 744 electric mandolin. Looking for recommendations.

Access Stage 3 rectangular case might do the trick. I'll give it a try if I have a moment.
  11. Re: Dio Dinos Electric Greek Bouzouki looking for information

Nothing electric about it, and it's not a bouzouki. It's a lefty mandolin. I wouldn't count on it having much value.

    Re: Loar K-5 Mandocello

Mighty Fine Guitars is more of a "boutique" shop, I'd say. It looks like a good selection of higher-end guitars; it's just that Stevie Coyle, the owner, usually doesn't handle mandolin-family...

    Re: Loar K-5 Mandocello

Spruce has a Paul Duff K5 that's pretty cool. I remember trying out Petri Hakala's mandocello before he bought it ... I think it's a Fletcher Brock? I drool over a Roger Bacorn K5 that belongs to...

Well, it is a consignment, so #1 doesn't seem applicable, but #2 and #3 might be.

    Re: Loar K-5 Mandocello

I posted an earlier thread about this. Not in the Archive. It was under someone's house for 50 years.

Did you talk to Stevie about it? What's taking him so long to set a price?

    Re: Custom mandolin Info

You've easily got $40K or more worth of instruments here. Definitely worth the drive to consign it all.

    Re: Is this an A-2Z?

I question the seller's date of 1924. You don't see the inlaid logo going straight across the headstock like that until 1928 or so.

This is late in the snakehead era, and late-era snakeheads are...

  23. Re: What up with the fretboard on this Gibson?

I'm not very knowledgeable about postwar serial numbers. If you plug that number in here, you get 1961 — which seemed to fit the case and the headstock logo, anyhow.

  25. Re: What up with the fretboard on this Gibson?

Here's another 1961 F-5 with what may be the original fretboard, although the last few frets have been pulled.
