I think you meant Django Fakebook, correct? Yeah, I downloaded that a while ago and it is good for the chords and basic melodies.
I would be surprised if Django had a Facebook page! :)) (Yes, I...

Use sweat bands on your wrists like the ones used by basketball players. I found that it keeps sweat from running down my arms and onto my palms and the instrument.
Even in the heat, I use my best...

I had the good fortune of spending a week in Edinburgh one August back in .... forgot the year. Anyway, it was during the Fringe Festival, and I was in an apartment motel in the the Holyrood area...
Charlie, you should check on some of the W.C. Handy tunes. If I remember correctly, both "St. Louis Blues" and "Beale Street Blues" are off copyright, for example.
I have a couple of mandolins. The 1979 Givens has 26:1 ratio which allows me to fine tune the pitch of each string. The 2015 Black has 16:1 tuners, which I find I have to mess with a bit more often...
What, no scroll?

I picked up an arpeggio study put together by Mike Marshall and then took some online classes with Matt Flinner. Both got me learning basic phrases from which I venture off from with my own phrasing....

Yeah, I think that a couple of years ago someone commented on THE brown shirt that he wore each lesson session. I think he has switched it up to a blue shirt now. So, there is that mark against him....
Just as people come on to Mandolin Cafe and brag about their new mandolins, I would like to brag about a new mandolin stand that I received last week.
In the past I tried to use one of those cheap...
Your assessment of piezo positioning makes sense. It is similar to the pickups on electric guitars. The pickup close to the bridge has a more electric (non-acoustic) sound than the pickup farther...
I have successfully used a Schertler Dyn-M P48 for several years now with NO finish marring issues. I had a Carvin PA (200W) that had phantom power (48V) and when that died, I bought a $50 phantom...
There is an 8-part Italian rom-com series on Netflix now -Generation 56K- which has a bowlback mandolin as part of a band playing music in the final episode. Very good series and over before you know...
Very nice, Jordan! My trio added a clarinetist this summer to become a quartet and I absolutely love having a clarinet to trade solos with.

I saw a duo yesterday that used a Bose L1 and I was totally impressed with the sound. And the fact that they didn't need monitors also sold me on the $1,200 price tag.
That said, I agree wtih...

With all due respect, I think that whoever posted the chords to "Because He Lives" simply forgot to put a space between two chords: Gm C7 is the ii-V7 chord progression in the key of F....
Yeah, if you are playing with others, have the guitarists play the bass note, or a bass player, and you play the normal D or G chord.
Usually that means D chord with a C bass, and G chord with a B bass.
If I saw that in a song, I would try playing the D like this: 545x, which ends up being a D7 chord. That notation means: 5th...
One in July and one in August.
As in MandolinCafé?
I am blaming you for this post, JB. I just HAD to try it out! :disbelief:
Aaron, it looks like you went with the humbucker option rather than the K&K. Could you please explain why you made that choice?
Thanks.
