nothing is strictly DUDUDU. Generally down on the beats and up on the off beats. Of course there are exceptions. Its super hard to keep timing trying to go DD just because you are hitting down stroke...
yeah, lots of great pickers there. A bit intimidating. Lots of Berkley students/musicians also.
I have a Harmony. Just find it hard to play with no bridge break. Just straight strings make it feel more guitar like. Mine also has a wide taper on fretboard making string feel far apart where I...

Watching a FB video of NYC in 1930's. working their way down broadway when it hits theater district....
about 10 years ago, I had the chance to but an A-2 snakehead that had tortoise binding on the back. If I recall, orig and not too many made that way. Should have grabbed it.
Usually those bowl back finds are a dime a dozen. You have a real nice one.
I have a red one. I no longer wear it. Somebody ruined wearing red hats.
Mandolin Bros used to have I think a 1915 pumpkin F4. Mint condition they were asking $15K. They probably didnt want to sell it.
I have #27 from early 2000s. Ben was great to deal with. About 10 years after getting it, He did a re-fret for only $200. He offered to buy mine back for the price I paid for it towards a new one. I...
I have same one....198697
We give fun presents for Christmas. I got this oddly wrapped gift and before opening said "What is this? a scary clown statue playing mandolin?"... Sure enough, it was.
No. He stopped building and no longer has a business license. I called him a year or so ago for refrett and maybe exchange. He once offered me a good deal and was curious to see he would still do it.
In my opinion...Mandolin prices sky rocketed when we had good economy and the housing boom 15-20 years ago. A lot of people had a lot of spare money. Loars were going for $240K, People who bought...
Who was seller? Is it frequent to find a mandolin on Amazon? Never thought of searching.
Very cool case.
5,000 X $20 = $100,000. I know auctions are made to make money but that's a very bad bet.
If you really had OCD, you would have spelled it CDO ... with letters in the correct order :)
Lucky. Most of us get the bowl back mandolins from our grand fathers.
Mandolin Bros used to have the nicest pumpkin f-4 I ever saw.. I think 1915. It had all the vibes in excellent condition. They really must not have wanted to sell it as it had a $14K price on it.
I have one of the harmony bat wings. The strings get so far apart by the bridge, it makes it hard to play - A lot of taper. But the string dont get closer to edges of fretboard.
