Re: Peter Ostroushko: Heart of the Heartland

Does anyone have an arrangement for string quartet (mando quartet)? I wrote to Peter, but he died the next week and didn't have time to say yes or no.

Re: This weeks mandolin that won't get a bid or buyer

Not surprisingly, this mando drew no bids. Maybe the seller should lower the price by about $5,000 -- give or take.

Re: Hi, first mandolin. Any ideas on identity?

To my eye, it looks like a mandolin made by a bandurria maker.
  14. Re: Identifying bowlback mandolin and question about black inside

I have a Carl Fischer label bowlback, likely made by Lyon & Healy "for the trade" around the turn of the last century. The inside is covered in white tape similar in width to the black tape in...

I can confirm that Globe was, indeed, a New York distributor -- not a manufacturer. But have no other clues -- sorry.

Re: Old New Guy -Any second day tips?

When you play, don't let the fingers on your left hand fly off the fretboard. Try to keep them close, even when they're not pressing on a string.

Also when you play, don't let your pick get far...

He mentions that he has sold more than 1,000 instruments in Taiwan. Very likely, that's because they were made in Taiwan.
