Ronnie McCoury plays a Loar now. He had a 1997 tone bar braces Gil with (F) holes and I beleive he toured and recorded on it on The Mountian album with Steve Earle. He sold the 1997 Gil.
I think...
I am well pleased with my F5 Andrew Mowry built for me. I play it as much as I can. Its a dream to play. It plays great all the way up the neck, I got Andrew to set it up with a medium high action...
Ronnie's tunes are smoking hot! I also play a bunch of his tunes. I always find his playing very explosive and exciting. He is such a cool player. His singing is great too.
Leather boot lace here for my F5. Hangmans noose at either end. I love the subtlety of the boot lace. I also personally find it comfortable to play too.
Ronnie Brown used to bemy mothers art teacher at Musselburgh Grammar school. She said he spent more time playing his guitar than teaching art. I guess it payed off when the Corries became famous.
Personally I am playing my Mowry F5 and loving it but I have changed the style of my right hand. Ss I used to post my fingers and it started to shows signs of wear on the varnish where I posted my...
Nice green shag pile carpet too!
Incredible work once again.
These guys are a treat!!!! Wish I had been there.
Outstanding scroll !!! Love the binding, and so clean.
Great idea those snow flakes. As always great work By Andrew Mowry.
Another vote for Andrew Mowry. He built me the F5 I thought I could only dream of. The tone just gets better and better. I beleive as it gets older it will age gracefully.
So cool!!!!
Andrew Mowry is a very gifted builder who has a growing reputation. I just love my f5 he built for me. The tone is awesome!!!
An awesome tune indeed
He was playing a Dude, but am I correct in saying he has 2 Dude's. The Dude he played had the broken scroll on the peghead. alot of wear to the lower scroll, I guess through grazing his mandolin off...
Went to see Chris Thile and the Punch brothers in Glasgow last night. He was playing his new material. I think he says its 4 movements of music and I gather its material for his new album. As usual...
Ronnie McCoury's break on the song The Cold Hard Facts.
I just this week got Little Mo McCoury for my birthday from my mother inlaw. I must admit, I really like it. My 5 year old son likes it and I swear my 10 month old daughter grooves along as well....
I live in Midlothian, just South of Edinburgh. A year and a half ago I placed an order with Andrew Mowry to build me an F5 to my own specification. While I admired his building style and his mandolin...
I have noticed very good bluegrass mandolin players can pick up an f5 or an A model and pick standing up without a strap. I have praciced this and I beleive it can be done as I can do it. I use a...
I find Ronnie McCoury's singing and playing very inspiring. He sings so well with his dad, I find it hard sometimes to tell who is doing the lead vocal and who is doing the tenor vocal. They are just...
So beautiful!!!
Adam Steffey sure can pull some tone out of that box!
