Great playing Barbara.
Just signed up. Looking forward to it.
I believe the final price point of $2,600 is a stretch. However, that said, Klos is producing carbon fiber guitars that are selling in the $2,000-2,500 range. Customers love them, and my Klos...
Tabledit is a good program overall. I agree with the other posters that the best strategy is to learn and use standard notation. I have found that spending more time listening, playing, and writing...
Sue, I have had it about a year. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Klos Travel Guitar will outlive me and sound as good for my ancestors as it does me. I love it and I am a bit nervous about the...
Yes, that large upcharge bugged me too. I did not order the K@K for that reason. I might have a sound port hold and simply use a lapel mic. That works well on the Klos travel guitar.
I just sent in a deposit today. Accidentally duplicated previous post
I just sent in a deposit today. The pressure was too much for me! I want to see what they come up with, before giving the final go-ahead. Final specs are due out in December with hopefully some...
Sorry, Folks. I did not see the earlier thread. You guys are always ahead of the curve and that is why I have appreciated all your information over the years. I never make a move in the mandolin...
Good Evening Cafe Friends: I just sent in a deposit for the new Klos Carbon Fiber Mandolin, due out in early 2024. They are building 100 in the initial batch and are taking orders now--according...
Very lovely haunting tune. Is it a violin arrangement?
Great advice from above posts. I can only add that I have the book, "French and Italian Tunes For Mandolin" transcribed by David Surette. David Surette has since passed away and I wonder if the...
I have a Collings MT2 Mandola, scale length just under 16. It was set up with D'Addario J-76. They sound nice and I have stayed with them.
Good Evening Cafe mates: I plan to take my Klos Travel Guitar on a plane this weekend. (I am waiting for Klos to come out with their travel mandolin soon). The Klos Travel Guitar completely breaks...
One of the builders on this site offered a short scale octave a few years ago. If my memory serves me, it was in the 18-19 inch scale length range. Do any of you know or remember who that might...
Good Evening Mando Colleagues: First of all, I have no financial interest in D'Addario. However, I had been looking at this for a couple of weeks and just couldn't pull the trigger because I thought...
Stay a month! Incredible country. We drove a rented car around for 11 days, covering the Wild Atlantic Way and other parts. We stayed in Athlone, right in the middle of the country with a...
I had the same issue once. I used a piece of rubber no-slip drawer liner across my lap. The problem was solved immediately. Just a thought for you to consider.
Such great advice and commentary. Thanks to all.
Good morning, Cafe, Mates: Have any of you gone from mandolin to violin? Many people seem to be violin players who take up mandolin later. I am simply curious if any of you have done the reverse...
I just wanted to give a shout out about a course that I finished on Peghead Nation. The course was "Playing By Ear" with a section on Picking Up Tunes on the Fly. It is taught by the violinist Lissa...

Have any of you tried the Roadie 2 or Roadie 3 device for winding and tuning? Since my carpal tunnel surgery, it is more difficult for me to tune my mandolins. As I look at the Roadie video on...
Lovely song. Found version on The Session in key of E maj. Not a common key in the mandolin orbit. Get to dust off some infrequently used frets.
