    Re: Reasons to avoid practicing

Fretting hand and today you would never know it happened. No pain at all, maybe just a bit numb in a spot or two on the nail but the fingertip feels fine, and looking at it if you didn't know the...

    Re: TI Single Strings

I think strings and beyond or just strings sell singles. Might have to contact them for mandola strings though.

Re: Left Hand on Neck: Palm or Thumb

196503196504That vid looks similar to how I hold mine. The neck does not go all the way down into the V of my thumb index finger area. It test more on the palm to finger jobs so there is light behind...
  6. Re: What did you goof up when building your first mandolin?

Not a great idea to put your number on a public forum. People here seem good but there are a lot of lurkers and boys everywhere. You’re just asking to get a ton a junk texts and calls now. I would...

196198Leather is fun. I made a round braid with some leather, very soft and flexible. I wanted one just in case. I do use it now and then but mostly go strapless.

Re: I went and did it!

You have done gone and done it for sure. My first Inexpensive acoustic was nothing more than a fine-sounding gateway drug to a fabulous Martin. Good luck but start saving now because it will happen!
  10. Re: Looking for something darker and throatier

I am not much of a follower of their playing, gasp, but I have seen them and I would say they are rather assertive with their picking and in control. Have you varied your technique and attack and...

    Re: Fake speed neck?

Some used to do a burst on the neck, I think, and some saded them down to make them feel nice, others just wore off that way etc. Why did Eastman do it that way? Might just have to send them an email...

I have never ever played an F! But when it comes to neck dive my Penguin is the worst! I have a strap for it but never while I am sitting. Funny how many different preferences and approaches there...

Re: Always use a strap? Even when seated?

I almost never use a strap and when I do put one on it is only for drop protection it is supporting none of the instrument weight, even standing.

    Re: Picks....a different angle.

It's all in the pick grip. I can't believe how long it took me to get comfortable holding a pick properly then learning to, manipulate it as needed. Sadly I still need to work on it!
