    Re: T-I's on GBOM

Yes, I have tried the flatwounds from Emando on my N.K. Forster GBOM. I like them better than ph/bz. Smooth playing and less finger noise. At Emando you can pick your gauges and either loop or ball...

    Re: T-I's on GBOM

The tone will get deeper the further away you play from the bridge.

    Re: Tallahassee

I did a transcription in Tabledit. It should be listed in the library.
  4. Re: Plugged in Gear that Would Also Work for Upright Bass

You can’t go wrong with the LR Baggs Venue. I use it for everything- upright bass, electric bass, mandolin, guitar. Lots of features and has built in tuner.

Re: Octave Mandolin string choices (MDO305)

You can order standard or custom sets from Emando.com. Lots of options for mandolin, mandolin, octave mandolin, etc. Prices are reasonable.

    Re: GBOM invasion

For me the guitar body shape is easy to hold, sits well on your lap. The larger body may add more volume and tone than an A style.

Re: Right size capo for CBOMs

I’ve had good luck with the Thalia capo on my Forster GBOM. They are very strong, easy to slide and come with several changeable pads for different radius sizes.

    Re: Standard Notation for Tunes

Thank you Jim for the score or your tune Transylvania Vamp on MuseScore! I find it much better than the Tabledit version, easier to hear the melody and understand.

Note: The pickup / preamplifier on the mandolin is a custom design by me.[/QUOTE]

Please tell us about your pickup system .
  16. Re: This tune from Zelda sounds vaguely Celtic.

It does have a Celtic feel to it, Irish sounding. Could be a guitar or mandolin, sounds like sampled virtual instruments. Many video games have interesting music in a Medieval vibe.

    Re: Bourgeois M5A Mandolin

Kind of pricey for an import. You can get better instrument made in USA by someone like Ken Ratcliff who makes the Silverangel line.

I recently played two Loar’s side by side, one with a Virzi. There was a subtle difference with the Virzi, slightly sweeter.
