Would you put the sound somewhere between the Loar bridge and a Red Henry maple bridge? I'd like to try something else on my Wiens but the maple brightness may be to much for me.

I loop about 10 sec. at a time on myCD/ DVD player and follow the lick or tune part until I think I've got it. Then , turn of f the player and #go away for a bit, then tell myself to relax and play...

Collings definately have their own voice. I wonder how many sound techs mix to hear what they THINK a mandolin should sound like in a bluegrass band versus letting the true voice of the instrument...

I've been to hundreds of festivals, shows etc. both indoors and out side as many of you have I'm sure. Have you been able to tell when the mandolin player switched to his TS pick ? I've tried it and...

I'm always careful any gig where I did not personally set up the P.A. I've had my lips blistered from bad grounds and that is getting away easy. It starts to rain on a stage just say no.

They settle in fine after about 6 hrs. for me. I love the tone but I'm not happy with the string tension. It is to loose for me. I think I may give up on them for that reason.

If you want to see an interesting combination of flying fingers AND economy of motion watch Ronnie McCoury. Beautiful
changes playing leads and double stop melody where all his fingers are just off...

Make them all use the same tuner and add some reverv/delay.

I knew Monroe didn't and the last time I saw Doyle he did not cross tune it either but I like the way he did it with Tony Rice and Bobby Hicks on the The Bluegrass Album Band...
