I've used a Zoom H2N for quite awhile. It was ok...
I like this Petersen. They accept offers. Could be a lifetime zouk. NFI

My preconception was that I would like the Northfield better but I preferred the Octolindo. Octolindo had more fundamental clarity to my ear. NF had more zing. As others have said, both sound...
I have a tri-action. They're nice. The Shubb is a little lighter and has a lower profile but the Tri-action is a nice flexible solution. Hope it works for you!
I just use a Shubb C1. It's bigger than the C5r but worked well with Crump, Weber, and Gernandt octave mandolins.
This would be nice:

Well your American Breedloves are solid mandolins. They won't hold you back. And you love them. They're in a price range where it's hard to just turn up the "better".
I would hold off upgrading...
We did a wedding where the bride picked O'Carolan's Sheebeg and Sheemore. I think it worked very well.
Here's the mando in question:

It can be tricky. When I sell, I honor returns but the buyer pays shipping both ways. I wouldn't want anyone to have an instrument they don't want. But I also wouldn't want to miss a sale or lose...
I don't but he does:

I haven't played any mandolins worth more than 10k. I've played most of the usual suspects in that 4-7k range and haven't found anything that beats my Girouard A5 Concert.
Looking back, there was...
I think Reunion Blues, Mono, Gator Icon, etc are really a different animal than a gig bag. Great drop protection. Maybe a little less crush protection. I've carried some good gear in a Reunion...
I have this case for an octave mandolin:

If the dimensions fit (It's probably a little long but that shouldn't matter as long as the...
Beautiful Frank! That A5 Special sure sounds nice on the double stops. Very rich.
That might be an idea. I would only want the bottom string capoed.
The pin point capos do work just fine. I've played an instrument with them. I just don't know if you would need to get a whole...
Would it be possible/feasible to add something like this:

to an already finished instrument?
I love the mandola I have but it would...
Hot cars are trouble, I wouldn't leave it in a car in the summer. 20 degrees, in a case, wrapped in a blanket with a few hours to acclimate before removing it from the case? I would be fine with...
Nice work! Just bought it :)
I was going to take a just quick glance at the video and then.....it's 40 minutes later.
Good way to spend 40 minutes. Thanks Daryl!
I really like the look of the darker shade. This could be a great first mandolin or a cost effective way to add a different sound to your collection.
Hope to hear it in action soon.
This human converts all kinds of guitars to octave mandolins. This one is a 23 inch scale so you're in octave mandolin scale territory. Fits your price:...
My favorite back is on my Girouard Oval. Love the look of quilted maple!

I've had two wide nut mandolins and both were uncomfortable for my left thumb. I don't know if it was the wide nut or just coincidence but it's enough evidence for me to stick with a standard nut...
Mainstage will do specialty cases. You'll be over 1k but if the new OM is your lifer and if you travel a lot, maybe its worth it!
