Lately I have been practicing chord scales using tremolo. For example, If I'm working on a song in G, I will warm up with G scale patterns for 10 minutes, practice the song for 10 minutes, and then...

  9. Re: There has got to be something better than Tabledit, right?

Do you have all of these items solidly under your fingers so you can use them on the fly to improvise on the mandolin: major scale for every key in the first position (ALL intervals across all 4...

    Re: Easy Transposing Guitar Tabs?

Stop using tab and learn by ear. It's difficult at first but becomes easier and easier. Tab has it's uses, but if you can't learn by ear then tab is holding you back.

Re: Is playing TABS detrimental to really learning?

I wasted about 4 years of practice due to using only tabs. I could flatpick a lot of fiddle tunes but only the arrangements I learned from tab - most of the time I couldn't even back up other people...

    Re: Improvising

Learn the core melody notes, then play other scales, patters, arpeggios, etc. and hit a core melody note at key times so people know what song you're playing.

Re: 3 hours of practice a day?

    Re: Carters and Gruhns...visit yesterday
