Sounds good!
This is one of the tunes I've been working on with the treble viol that I'm renting (I really have too many instruments that I'm trying to perfect...)
But figured it's a nice tune for the mandola....
As stated above, it's going to depend on the make up of the musicians who you're playing with. OM gets lost if there's a lot of acoustic guitar sound. But it is a lot easier to play melodies on...
Also, keep in mind, that the 4 course mandolin tuned in 5ths, never really achieved acceptability until say, the mid 1800s. The mandolin (or mandolino) in 4ths or later, 5ths, was never really ...

Thanks for sharing. I had to subscribe to his channel! Second time today I came across it.

Love it!
Nice job as always.
Looks like a cross between a mandolin and a balalaika
Crazy. But makes sense.
Luckily, old bowlbacks are going pretty cheap still.
And if you mess up the rhythm, just say you're experimenting with polyrhythms. Who needs rules?
Looking forward to reading it, thanks, Rob!
Practice chromatic scales, starting on different notes/frets as this will help you master half step passages.
But really from an application stand point, it completely depends on the context...
