A lot of media players will play FLAC files- the mighty VLC, which I use as my main player, JetAudio, Songbird and even Winamp. If you want to convert them FLAC Frontend does a good job and is free.

Emerald Rae, a MA fiddler and singer plays the crwth. You might be able to find out where she got it through her website or MySpace page. Her music is worth checking out anyway.

I have an M2 Mid-Mo, the maple one. It is very bright and really quite loud.

My '84 Flatiron 3K bouzouki has a sticker (at the neck joint) that recommends .012, .022, .032, and .045. These are the gauges I usually use and I like the way it sounds.
