Some very fine work to look at here.
I have seen some great deals lately so I am buying. It's hard to judge the economy by the price of a banjo but it wouldn't bother me if prices came down a bit. Vintage guitars have taken a drop...
I probably should have said that I'm not so much worried about the chop technique, maybe just more to learn a variety of classic chord progressions (and the favored voicings) that make up verse,...
I'm gonna give this a shot.
Thanks for the hard work!
I'm looking for some good tabs or links for learning classic bluegrass and old-time rhythm playing on the mandolin. A lot of the tabs I see are for lead breaks, but I'd like to learn more on how to...
The seller sent more small photos, but never gave any more details or the contact info. I was worried enough not to bid, and I think that's what kept the price fairly low.
I just open the .tef files in Guitar Pro with no problem. It does all stringed instruments, plus drums and other stuff too.
That was a good suggestion because I discovered that Guitar Pro can play .tef files so I can use both formats http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I was watching this one with interest:

Says it's a 1936 F-4. I asked the seller for his phone number twice to ask him more...
It would be nice to get some pics & details from Vince if he would be willing to help.
Guitar Pro has a nice slow down feature, along with many other features. It's what I use, but I'm sure there's other good ones out there as well.

Now this one caught my eye because of the similarity to the Ibanez mandolins that I like. The board inlay is pretty similar, and the...
That's pretty cool http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Sounds like you got the pick of the litter. That is one fine looking mandolin, and the truss cover just seals the...
I really like the Guitar Pro software for learning guitar music, and I have a few songs for it with some mandolin. Even though it's called Guitar Pro you can do mando tabs as well.
Can anyone help...
Gibson made an electric 6 string guitar and mando doubleneck in the 1950's. They look pretty wild. I think it's an EMS-1235 or something like that. Too bad they cost so much!
Very sweet!
I've got a similar mando and I think they are about "normal" if there is such a thing http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Here's a large version of just the Ibanez. Great photo, I think.

You can read an interview about this mandolin: ...
Did she buy anything for you?

An interesting question. There is a chap on here who goes by the name of Desert Rose who worked directly with the people involved in Japan.
Based on my understanding of what he's posted here, and...
Just posted a writeup on one of Bill's Ibanez mandolins, with a lot of help from f5loar (thank you!). This would be the 527 model that was auctioned in 2001.
You can read it all here:...
Mikey, have you got a link to the one for sale? I'd love to ask the owner for pics. I have checked the classifieds but I just can't find it. Any info would be great...
Glad you enjoyed the pictures and content so far. Just wait til we really get going with it http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Yes, the 524 and 524CW models have a...
You can't argue with science!
People are saying it's a tough time to sell right now. Vintage prices are down too!
