    Re: Obscure, solid Mandolin Players

Martin Stevens of the True North band. Tasteful, clean, great tone. Saw him at the Shelton festival, a breath of fresh air.

And more surprising as he’s basically local and I’d never heard of...
  2. Re: Just Ordered my First Mandolin, Advice?

Get a lesson to get good mechanics, either online or existing videos. Chris Thule, Mike Marshall, Don Julin and Pete Martin have good YouTube videos to get started.

    Have fun.

    Re: Dunlop Signature FLOW picks

    Re: Just so excited!!!

As mentioned above, ‘spalt’ is a stage of rot. It’s typically only seen in small boxes or bowls. There’s a reason for that.

If you want the look, to me the best way to utilize it is as a...
  6. Re: Weber Gallatin Brekke Bridge adjustment?

I like mine fine on my 98 Absaroka. Took off the ‘modern’ wrench adjustable bridge Bruce substituted when I had some other work done because it made the action way too high. Loud but painful to...
  7. Re: Recommendations for a great Jazz tenor guitar?

It just struck me as funny, but I hope you find something that suits you. Give us a budget and many folks here will be more than happy to help you spend it:)
  8. Re: Recommendations for a great Jazz tenor guitar?

So, you can’t store the Fender in the manner you’d store an acoustic tenor and plugging a cable into the Fender is too hard?

I’ve noticed that the chore of taking the electric Mando out of its...

Re: ArtistWorks discount - What do you think?

Like some, I subscribed for a few years but didn't partake very often so I finally stopped renewing.

But they are now spamming me like crazy:(

Bottom line: not at all as quick or convenient as an electronic tuner.

Re: ArtistWorks discount - What do you think?

They changed owners, I expect the price to not go lower.

The price did remain the same for a few years, and its an inflationary time.......

Re: Screamin' CL deal on a (very worn) F2

It is sad that new homes often lack those design features that are so useful for musicians.

    Re: Tax Day Cometh

As noted above, there are a very few states that have no sales tax. In my receiving state, I typically pay no sales tax on internet purchases but I would suspect the some states would tax those even...

Re: Starting to see the difference

I don't recall that in my classical guitar lessons or playing. It was more 'linear' with occasional double or triple stops to end phrases or motifs.

You’re there, just take it home:)
  21. Re: What's a good way to get a decent appraisal?

List it high. No bites, lower the price. Interested folks will probably want to negotiate.

You can also check prices from sites like Reverb to see listing prices.

May be D'Quervain's syndrome (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/de-quervains-tenosynovitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20371332}. I've had it starting in my thumb, moving down to the forearm...

Re: Luthier Websites - Browsing preferences?

I like both Austin Clark’s and Audey Ratliff’s websites. Both sites are fairly direct and to the point, with models and pricing clearly displayed.

I’m a little prejudiced since I have done...
