Re: How to pack an instrument for shipping

Tony is a gem to the mandolin world.
That’s a great tip on separate insurance companies. Most won’t insure if they don’t pack the instrument. But they will allow you to purchase the coverage.

    Re: Aged-tone?

The mandolin that Cheryl has is one that was made with the oldest wood that I had. It was purchased from Ted Davis’ stash. I now have red spruce that was cut over 100 years ago. It is much older. It...

Re: Neck reinforcement vs a truss rod

Woody, I got mine off of eBay. Here’s the link…https://www.ebay.com/itm/123283332877?var=423686175223
I put it in the neck and leave room for a wood filler strip. I hope this helps.
    God bless, Skip

Re: The Dewey Murphy Loar Mandolin Project

Tony is a fantastic picker and everyone should look up Jerry’s mandolin album on YouTube. Jerry is a great picker.
The Murphy brothers played a lot in NC where I’m from. I love this story.

    Re: Church Praise Band Question

Sherry, I think the mandolin fits perfectly with most gospel songs. I would ask if you can sit it during the practices and maybe they will see how nicely a mandolin fits in.
    Just my 2 cents.

Darryl, I don’t see how anyone can be offended in the conversion. Who plays lutes these day anyway? The mandola coversion is perfect.
