    Re: “What is that?”

I could see how a electric mandolin would seem to confuse people as well.

    “What is that?”

Has anyone ever had their mandolin mistaken for another instrument?

  6. Re: Just bought a new Kentucky KM900 from The Mandolin Store

The 956 I believe is a discontinued model, it had the same specs as the 950 only it had a darker “wine burst” they called it.
I think that there was also a 906, which had the same specs as the 900.

    Re: Question about removing finish...

The 300s have a satin finish and the 500s have gloss. The 300s tend to sound more open right out of the box.

Re: NMC - 'Ukulele Tone Wood

Tell me about it, each day I think: would I rather own a Kentucky and live in an actual house? Or would I rather buy everything on my musical wishlist and and live on the streets? It is a very tough...

    Re: overhauling an Asian import

Isn’t this similar to the mandovoodoo, that Stephen Perry does? He doesn’t take the top off or recut the tone bars, but he makes those Eastman and Kentuckys sing, at least that’s what the owners say!
  12. Re: Just another “which one should I get?”thread

Yep the fishing here is great for sure, I also just got a reply from someone up in Portland to try a KM950

Willie Poole, I live in Salem, Oregon, a bit far, no?:)
  14. Re: Just another “which one should I get?”thread

Thanks, after listening to numerous soundclips I am leaning towards the Kentucky or Jbovier. What would you say is the biggest difference in tone between them? Also which one would have the best fit...

    New guy

I have a chance to trade a tenor banjo of mine for a tenor guitar, it’s a Black Bear tenor, anyone have any information on them?
  16. Just another “which one should I get?”thread

    Here’s my question,

I am looking at the the Kentucky 950 p, Jbovier and the eastman 800 series.
I had a 815v a while back and I liked it so that’s what I am leaning towards, but I keep hearing...

    Re: TKL Mandolins (TheMandoShop)

I just wanted to add, that a couple months I went ahead bought an Eagle F5 TKD mandolin and my impressions were that it sounded amazing, one the best mandolins l have played, BUT the catch is that...
  18. Re: Eastman md 305a or Kentucky km252 artist

Agreed, I'm partial to Eastman having owned a 815v a while back. The only problem I had with it was that the neck was too small for me.
Also, Eastmans open up over time too, I once played a 315 in...

  21. Re: Eastman Quality: You Be the Judge [pics]

I know that the A style mandolin kits from International Viloin are well received on here, but has any one had any experience with their F style kits?

    What's your opinion?

I have a 2008 Breedlove Quartz FF that I am thinking about "downgrading" from. I know it sounds crazy but I have Eastman AC 120 guitar that cost under $400 that I bought new a while back and I love...
