    Re: Carpal Tunnel surgery?

I've not had the surgery you are considering but I'll say this about recovery - DON'T RUSH IT!!! There are lots of success stories about this surgery.

    Re: Modern F4 options?

If you want high end check out the Gibson F4 Hybrid I'm selling on Reverb. One of a kind by David Harvey. It's an amazing mandolin but not for the faint of wallet!

    Re: Cafe Classified

I should clarify...It's not THAT big of a deal to me. My hourly +/- (!!) perusing includes everything. And I do really enjoy seeing the incredible variety presented.

    Cafe Classified

As of this moment 14 out of 18 postings in the mandolin classifieds are dealers selling their wares.

I'd like to see them separated--dealers in one place and private sellers in another.

  7. Re: Cheap D'Angelico F-Style mandolin - what?

    NO SCREWS ! !

    Heavens please no screws.

Yes, the underside of the bridge foot must perfectly match the radius of the face of the mandolin. The result should have the bridge perfectly at right...

Re: What's the best room/apt humidifier?

Hey Charlie, the pan on the stove is what I've done in lieu of spending mucho dinero right before Christmas.
I also turn on a fan which dissipates the moisture.

    It sounds really nice, Dem.
I'm impressed with the balance as well as the brightness and full sound.

    Re: Bill Halsey's last F-5

    All well and good...

    But!

    How do they sound?
    How do they play ?
    How do they compare?

What makes them special as far as mandolins go?
  13. Re: Suggestions requested for this array of desired attributes

    Travel and find them,
    Pick 'em up,
    Play 'em
You'll know when you hear/feel it.

  14. Re: Gibson Master Model vs Custom Master Model - advice please

Thanks for the link, it's the most I've seen from the legendary C. Derrington. What a great guy!
  15. Re: Gibson Master Model vs Custom Master Model - advice please

If you don't like the sound of the mandolin don't buy it.
I've had my 1993 Gilchrist A3 since it was new and while it has matured over the years it sounded fantastic when it was brand new.

Re: Who is Behind "The Loar" Company?

As far as I know all the mandolins you mention are made in China.
There can be a wide difference from mandolin to mandolin so my advice is play it before you buy it.

    Re: Hutto mandolin

All the various Hutto mandolins I've seen here on the MC have been in the rage of $10k.
The first one I remember seeing was in 2013 and it was listed at $9k.
