Re: Martin Jenkins and Bert Jansch Conundrum

Great piece. Thanks for posting that. Cool listening to Nigel's stories and capturing all that history. I got to see Bert Jansch a couple times in the mid 80's when I worked a the Great American...

Re: New Project - Guy Clark Cover

That was the Heiden F Artist. The other instruments were a 1953 00-18, a 1965 Hofner bass, a Danocaster tele and a scratchy voice

Re: New Project - Guy Clark Cover

Makes sense Mike, a tree is a significant thing to trade. I knew Guy built guitars and had some mentoring from Michael Heiden

That's really cool Mike. One of my favorite songs. Been puzzling over the line "...I wouldn't trade a tree..." for a long time. Lyle Lovett does a great version

    Re: New Ruhland F5's?

That "individual" is Bob Minner. One of the best pickers around on any instrument with strings on it. Tim McGraw's long time guitar player. Sure makes that Ruhland sing!

Re: Are travel mandolins worth it?

I recently got a Martin Backpacker mandolin (one of my hiking buddies will have the guitar version) for a 2-week wilderness backpacking trip in the High Sierra. They sound terrible and this is the...

    Re: Comparing Mandolins

My 2 cents: That Lawrence Smart A5 is likely to be fantastic and the price is absurdly good. In my experience with Greg Proulx, he only ever has very nice instruments and he's a great guy to deal...

    Re: New Ruhland F5's?

I was lucky enough to get to stop by Matt's the day before he shipped this recent batch of F5s out. I played all five of them - and got to hear Matt play each one too - and they were all really...

Joe K Walsh, Darol Anger and Mike Barnett

Thought I'd share this great video. The fiddle playing is wonderful, but what is also striking is how Joe's rhythm playing really drives the tune...and his solo break is fantastic too
