Your humor does not go unnoticed Flatrock.....
I have #287 from Austin. I was introduced to my Clark by Zach Vance of the Mandolin Store. Thank-you Zach. You knew what I was looking for and delivered.
Everything about this mandolin is an...
How about everybody join me thanking Scott for this fine site by hitting the donate button.
Thanks for all you do Scott.
The BRW mando is no longer on the wall at Lowe's Vintage. Some lucky picker bought it. Cafe member??
Another great article Scott. I just put "The Mandolin Store" sticker on my Kimble case yesterday.
That makes sense Andrew. I'm thinking remove the strings, lightly sand the front & buff. Same for the back. Key word here is "lightly".
Nothing was adhered. No residue. I tried to get a pic. Hard to do on the fly. It looks more like when someone would place a drink on Mom's table unprotected and leave a cloudy circle. That would ring...
I just picked up a trade with "marring" on the ebony veneer. It's clearly from some a clip on tuner. There are 3 circles of the same diameter marring the ebony front & back of the headstock. I guess...
Case closed. Next.......
I forget who said this (I'm a recovering acoustic 12 string player). And this is pre- clip on tuners. Goes like this;
"You spend half the time tuning. And the other half playing out of tune". Some...
My order would be the other way around Dave. If it won't for bad luck........
+4 to keep it Robbie. Like Leester, we all feel some sort of pain along the way. I have 2 that got away and I'm sure others have more.
I'll also add, well done on doing the right thing.
+3 to keep it. Just like with Dave's friend, he needed it too.
Get it inspected by a competent luthier. Then decide what to do. Teen's A4 are worth keeping in top playing shape IMHO.....
+2 for keeping it Robby. Don't resort to a life of crime.
Enjoy the journey indeed. Pics please......
My mandolin will be flying to Montana Lutherie tomorrow smell free. I'll do 2 more chamber sessions since I have time. I talked with Bruce and he is on the look-out for her arrival.
Complete Bruce...

A few days ago I asked this group how to get rid of cigarette smell from my mando. See attached for the thoughts and...
Life is good. Then a Big Mon shows up. Life is better.
+1 for keeping it. It was meant to be Robby.
WOW!! You have to enjoy moments like these to the fullest. However fleeting... I know you did J.
Lowe Vintage in Burlington, NC has #13 hanging on the wall. Strong mandolin. Everything we've heard about Ben's fit & finish holds true on this one. Very clean too.
Thanks Russ. I ordered some small packets of activated charcoal last night. I'll start there. Luckily the Collings branded HSC is brand new. Very little smell. One pack in the case should do the...
Forget sunlight. What kind of smell were you getting rid of sg? Are you talking Arm & Hammer bicarb?
Your humor does not go unnoticed pops.....
I guess the same method would hold true with the sodium bicarbonate?
I recently picked up a very well loved 2002 Collings MT-2 mandolin on a trade. This thing sings! One problem, it has a slight cigarette smell. It didn't seem that bad during the deal. It sounds so...
