Re: That famous cello prelude, deconstructed

There is a great book, The Cello Suites: J. S. Bach, Pablo Casals, and the Search for a Baroque Masterpiece by Eric Siblin.Tells the story of these pieces, so cool.
  2. Re: Should I put a Mandolin Cafe Sticker on my Vintage Lifton Cas

That is it. Right there. And I refuse as much as possible to let the likes an dislikes of an as yet unnamed future buyer of my stuff to dictate what I can do with my stuff.

    You homeowners know...

Re: Chase 5 string Fan Fretted Mandolin

Two things going on here, and I'll comment on both.

As regards electric mandolins I have a couple of emandos. A four and a five string. And I ask that question all the time. All my thoughts. I...

    Re: Five String Madness

I don't know what bourbon I was drinking but the actual measurement is 14.5 on the E string, and 16.5 on the C string. Zero fret to bridge. Which, yea, is two inches.

  6. Re: Article: New Music from Avi Avital - Art of the Mandolin

The "Art of the Mandolin" arrived in today's mail.

This music will make you chose the mandolin all over again.
  7. Re: Should I put a Mandolin Cafe Sticker on my Vintage Lifton Cas

If you never plan on selling the Stradolin and its case, then sticker away. It will not damage the case in any way except possibly maybe as a formerly pristine collectable relic.

    I believe we all...

Re: Mandolin purchase advice for a new player

Then, assuming you know you are going to like it, I would get the best mandolin you can afford. The very best. Get what you think will be your for ever mandolin. Get a mandolin so good that whenever...
  9. Re: Should I put a Mandolin Cafe Sticker on my Vintage Lifton Cas

I plaster my cases with stickers. I even have iron on patches on my cloth cases, so it looks like stickers. So I am the wrong person to ask.

The only question is the case being vintage. I believe...

Re: Cases for Lyon & Healy model A

Yes it would be a gig bag.

It is a personal comfort level thing. My L&H came with a tight fitting Calton case, which I use where I feel I need the extra protection.

    What I have done until...

I think expression comes with technique. Expression uses various techniques. One achieves expressive playing by the use of good techniques.

    Re: How to remember tunes?

I am not sure there are techniques to learn. It is a skill that can be acquired.
