Re: Tenor Guitar tuning - CGDA vs GDAE ????

Actually I tune GDAE for Jazz cause our Horn Section had their instruments converted up a whole step & they're now in the Keys of C & F. This also revived the Rare F Baritone Sax.

Re: Breaking A-Strings in CGDA tuning

Why would Breedlove use a 24 1/16 in scale length on their Tenor Guitars rather than 23 or less for CGDA Tuning?

My .006 High B didn't break cause I actually added some silk winding to both ends of the strings like they do with flat wound strings for bowed stringed instruments

The string making technology for super thin strings that can tune super high on a longer scale length is currently going under improvements.

Re: Octave strings on a regular mandolin

I guess you need to put more graphite in the bridge & nut so they don't break. Also Geared tuners will relieve tension to prevent them from breaking. Also tune them up slowly so they don't break
