    Re: David Surette has passed.

Very sad news, David is such an amazing musician.

For you Grateful Dead fans out there (this video was how I found out about David):

    Re: Room Humidifier recs

Ultrasonic is the way to go...just make sure to get one where you can set the humidity level as opposed to just turning a dial.

Re: Cherokee Shuffle - Emory Lester

Fantastic, Emory is such a great picker! I highly suggest his Pale Rider cd, one of my favorites, particularly the title track.

    Re: Online Mandolin Lesson suggestions

As folks mention, lots of great online options. I'd really suggest at least a few skype/zoom one-on-one lessons. I tried artist works, peg head, etc. and made some progress, but after just 1 lesson...

Hi all, thanks for all the quick responses. I attached a picture. Definitely structural, it's pretty much hanging on by a thread. I chatted with Don first thing this morning and will...

    holes from pickguard removal?

MAS is here once again, and some I'm interested in have a pickguard, which I'm not a fan of (for purely aesthetic reasons). They often have a full-size gibson style guard that is bound to the bottom...

    Re: Anyone taking online lessons?

Another student of Emory's here...highly recommended. I did artist works for a year, peghead nation, and a few others. They helped, but my first few lessons with Emory were a game changer (has been...

    Re: Nitrocellulose safe instrument stands

I got a few small indentations on the neck of a nitro-finished mandolin from simply leaving it in the stand. I cut up a polishing cloth (or old t-shirt would be fine too) and wrapped it around the...
  14. Re: Skype question: What kind of wide angle webcam to buy?

I've been taking Skype lessons with Emory Lester (awesome, highly recommended!!!) for over a year now. I use a Logitech camera (c920 model) and it works great. I clip it to the top of my computer...

NFI, but I highly recommend Skype lessons with Emory Lester. Excellent teacher, and a really great guy. Just the first lesson itself made a huge difference. Even if you don't want to commit to...

    Re: Back up rhythm tracks

Check out The Strum Machine. Can change the tempo as fast or slow as you like. Really easy to make your own chord progressions too. It does cost about $5/month, but they have a free 30-day trial,...
