I've used an older program called foobar2000 for file type conversions of all kinds. Very easy and intuitive. It does need the LAME plugin for MP3. I generally prefer FLAC.
The Beatles stopped playing live because they couldn't hear each other. There may have been other issues, but this was a big one for them.
I have no idea why, but our Christmas cactus started blooming just before Thanksgiving this year and is still blooming. It had two sets of huge blooms, but has continuously had at least a few buds...
This is really terrific.
I have been a big Andrew Hendryx fan since I first encountered him playing in Yarn in 2009. He is probably at least as responsible as any other mandolin player for me...
Go to the Big Muddy website: https://www.bigmuddymandolin.com/store
Figure out which model is closest to what you have. I usually figure about 70% of a comparable new mandolin and then adjust...
Wein is just the German for Vienna. I'd guess they are exactly the same, just labeled/packaged for different markets
Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea.
Take a simple fiddle tune in D that you play in open position and doesn't require moving up the neck. Move put your index finger on the A string, 5th fret and play from there. Take a simple fiddle...
I am not a wood guru. Olive trees tend to be slower growing and smallish in diameter. They can eventually grow into large trunks that I have no doubt you can get pieces wide enough. However, the...
I watched part of the first one and I will watch tonight. Have listened to several of them on Nugs, but haven't gotten to all of them yet. Can't wait for live music to return, streaming is just not...
I typed out a very long answer about sus2 and sus4 chords with a side of power chords, before realizing that was not at all what you were asking about. Apparently too slow to get the delete button,...
I think that is the Bright Box in Winchester. I've been there, but not in a while. The Camel in Richmond is also doing some live shows indoors. I've not been comfortable with the indoor shows, so my...
sorry, misunderstood
Yes, I mean Dirty Grass Players. I also love Fireside Collective and had that show on my radar. I believe they were scheduled to play one Friday night a month at the Camel for the whole year. ...
They are a really great band. I've only been able to see them in person once, having had conflicts a couple other times when they played near me. I was hoping to get down to the Camel a few times...
I think that "buy a CD of the show on the way out of the show" just does not give enough time to compile a good mix. I have friends who are tapers, there is quite an art to it, even when you have a...
Well, I was going to buy one of those to play Bouncing Around The Room, but the add says they don't respond to that kind of music.
Thanks for your perspective. I've been playing about three years, have taken a variety of courses, in person and online. I still consider myself a sort of advanced-beginner.
I guess my...
I'd be interested in any folks experience with Monroe Mandolin camp. I am looking to go to a mandolin camp this year or next, depending on pandemic, and this is one that I have heavily considered,...
My musician friend's tell me that the best way to support them is to buy tickets to their shows. The second best way is to buy a copy of their album at shows. The next best way is to buy merch from...
They are fairly new to me and a little bit outside of my regular listening, but I have listened to a couple of the COVID era livestreams and really enjoyed the. I did see Rebecca play mandolin in...
Are they UK based now? Back when the Renos were in the band, I believe they were from Tennessee and they played the U.K. a lot (and also Scandanavia and Germany), but you could occasionally catch...
I have that book. In addition to Here Comes the Sun, the ones I play most are Eleanor Rigby, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Eight Days a Week, and Here There and Everywhere. I've played all of them...
So, you are doing great.
My personal experience is that bulk time is not the easiest thing to utilize well, especially early in your mandolin journey. For me, playing for a long time reaches...
